HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

Grizzly Trail
Grizzly Gulch, Frontier Gold-Mining Town

The path along Grizzly Trail offers high-spirited frontier fun in an abandoned mining town called Grizzly Gulch, set amidst mountains and woods. The town was founded August 8, 1888 – the luckiest day of the luckiest month of the luckiest year – by prospectors looking to discover gold. Bears have now started causing havoc at the Big Grizzly Mountain Mining Company.

Key Technology and Creative Elements
• Guests visiting Grizzly Gulch are part of the action, experiencing hands-on water features, massive geysers and various leaking structures in the abandoned town.
• Life-size Audio-Animatronic® bears set the story in motion on Big Grizzly Mountain Coaster, an adventure aboard a runaway mine train through town. Guests careen backward down an incline that propels them through twists and turns, before a launch sequence “blasts” the mine train out of the mountain.
• A Wild West stagecoach, an old time Jail House, and the world’s largest nugget of gold provide fun photo opportunities.
• Guests can relax with a Wild West refreshment at the old Saloon or shop for mining supplies and souvenirs at the Bear Necessities merchandise stand.

Mystic Point

Mystic Point is the site of mysterious forces and supernatural events in the heart of a dense, uncharted rain forest.

In Mystic Manor, home to an eccentric world traveler and adventurer and his collection of exotic international artifacts, strange things are afoot as an enchanted music box releases its magical powers, thanks to a mischievous monkey.

Key Technology and Creative Elements
• Inside Mystic Manor, a trackless ride system enables vehicles to move “freely” about the attraction as the story unfolds. Audio-Animatronic® figures and special visual and audio effects help tell the story of mystical phenomena.
• Within Mystic Point lies a beautiful garden full of relics and mythological figures, where guests discover a hidden world of illusions and mysteries that trick the eye.
• Guests can dine at the Adventurer’s Club amid a vast collection of unusual artifacts from around the world or purchase exclusive curiosities and collectibles at the Archive Shop.

Toy Story© Land
Disney·Pixar-themed Play Area for Kids of All Ages

Andy, the young boy from the Disney·Pixar Toy Story films, has left his toys unattended in this immersive and highly themed environment, based on one of Disney·Pixar’s most popular film series. While Andy is away, the toys come to life and play...and Guests are invited to join!

Key Technology and Creative Elements
• Oversized outdoor rides and photo opportunities allow Guests to experience the different perceptions of scale, and shrink to the size of a toy.
• One attraction includes a shuttle coaster which propels Guests along a U-shaped style track.
• A drop-style parachute attraction lets Guests join a “training mission,” plunging from a 25m tall tower.
• Guests will enjoy fun, immersive and interactive environments with life-size toys.
• A themed food kiosk provides a barrel of fun snacks and refreshments and Guests can shop for Toy Story inspired collectibles at the merchandise location.

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

By the map, the placement for Toy Story land looks pretty bad... won't it ruin the Jungle Cruise skyline?

Grizzly Trail = Everest and GRR combo
Mystic = Haunted Mansion
Toy Story Land = Bugsland

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

does seem like it but my guess is that the landscaping will be very intense in that area. It also seems like they left land on the northern area for future expansion for the land which would eventually connect it more to fantasyland.

I personally think they should have left that area undeveloped for now. A nice path would have worked until more funds were available to add a land for a Pirates of Caribbean style attraction that could have tied into the huanted Mansion theming.

Toy story land could have been squeezed in the area next to Iasw or saved for a future second gate

Seems like and odd choice for the park but i guess that could be considered their toontown version.

Grizzley trail looks like a rethemed frontierland the attraction looks very similiar to thunder mountain

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

I'll reserve full judgement until I see more detailed art/models, but I gotta say that as of now I'm not that impressed. Maybe it's the artist but these don't feel like Disney to me. I also dislike the names for these mini lands and how they're all bunched up on one side of the river. I'm curious as to how they will transition the lands with them that close.

OH NO THEY DID NOT!!!!
If this is what we are to look forward to at HKDL... may as well close the park permanently for good! It's freaking DCA all over again... Carnyland if you will.
... And what's with the generic "land" names.. Mystic Point?? Gimme a break! All they need there is a casino to compete with Macau. Toy Story looks no different than what they have at DCA now, and that curvy little thing? I believe they have one of those at the mall of America theme park!
Simply horrible.

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

My question is... What happened to the Pirates Land... is this Western River revisited? (aka Pirates would have cost way to much)

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

Great post!

The lands look too small. Make it only two new lands and it is better.

Here we have all those things we have been hearing about.
Grizzlytrail would be great if they used Expedition Everest and rethemed it AND added a raft ride. It looks as if there is a grizzly peaking up there... but the drop looks too short. There is just too much empty space in land! HKDL needs things to do and not empty space!

The Mystic Point... could be amazing... but it looks like one big walkthrough. What HKDL would need is that much talked about high tech mansion and some other effect heavy ride and some kind of magic show... with tricks. This could be a place where imagineers could play wih LED lights... and lazer projections after dark.

Toy Story Land... it looks to be themed after a playpark in Poland 1989... that is not good. Landfill!

Not that bad asides from the toy thing. I thought it would be worse. But the fact that the lands are too small is not good.

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

Laser projection? I think you are on to something TTT.. considering the light shows the buildings in HK Island and Lantau put on nightly.. and who can't fall in love with HKDL's IASW building at night? I can do without the POTC ride, but for the love of God, at least give us Splash Mountain considering the weather in HK most of the year.
And Grizzly Trails? Puhleeeze! This will be the place to meet during Gay Days in HKDL.
Still in shock about how bad this looks.

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

With the addition of more than 30 new attractions, play and entertainment experiences, Hong Kong Disneyland’s total number of rides and attractions will increase by almost 50 percent and top one hundred. When completed, the expansion will increase HKDL’s physical footprint by approximately 23 percent; broaden the park’s appeal by adding more experiences for young adults; and place increased focus on universally-understood stories. Using Guest feedback as a guide, these three new themed areas will create memorable guest experiences, drive strong word of mouth and repeat visitation, and offer many unique only-available-in-Hong-Kong attractions that feature Disney’s immersive storytelling and innovative technology.

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

grizzly trail and mystic point sound very emersive and the Haunted Mansion should be very unique with its trackless system.

I am not too sure about Toy Story Land, like i said before it seems to be a replacement for Toontown so i guess it works. its a shame they did not at least integrate TSMM instead of the "U" shaped coaster

From the artwork and the descriptions, seems like only two main rides in Grizzly Trail and Mystic Point, and few small rides in Toy Story Land. Really disappointed. I think the Universal Studio opening in Singapore in 2010 looks more promising.
