Re: Can HKDL compete with HKOP after their expansion?

Having the MTR lines directly to the parks certainly make it easier. We used the HKDL line when we went to the park. That Ocean Park express looks good.

and now there is a new MTR Line for HKOP!

A New MTR South Island Line to be completed by 2015

The MTR South Island Line with a station at Ocean Park will definitely bring in more visitors to the Park.

I found one of the pictuers I took of the HKDL line at the resort stop.

Re: Can HKDL compete with HKOP after their expansion?

I have been wondering for the past few years how Hong Kong Disneyland is going to compete against Ocean Park. The HKOP Management team seem to have a far better understanding on how to operate a theme park than the Execs and Govement Officials do with HKDL. HKOP is already by all accounts a more visited park, but it also isn't ignorant to the fact its standards and quality do not match that of Disney, and have been working hard over the last few years to fix this. Personally during my trip to HKOP, I only spent half a day here and that was enough for me, but I think I could easily spend more time here once the expansion is all finished.

Finally, I will agree with TimmyTimmyTimmy, Hong Kong Disneyland is going to need a lot more than 3 lands to compete.

Re: Can HKDL compete with HKOP after their expansion?

However great Mystic point and Grizzly Trail might be, it isn't enough, or it isn't really what HDKL deserves. seriously, ONLY 2 rides? with the addition of some minor carny rides that shouldn't even be thought to exist in a Disneyland. and it will take so long to build these? I guess after these 3 lands are made it will be the same process all over again: lack of attendance. And then the gov't and TWDC will feud over the expansion business for 2 years until they finally do agree to negotiate on what to build. By that time it will be 2020 and OP will have been a financial success (not that it isn't already one).

Disney really needs to step it's game up. It's getting crushed by HKOP.

Re: Can HKDL compete with HKOP after their expansion?

    According to some sources...

Some new rides or attractions (originally conceived) for the HKOP's MRP (Master Redevelopment Plan) have been dropped or scaled back due to budget constraint. Although the number of new attractions have been reduced due to budgetary reasons, they believe the current lineup (listed above) of new attractions are quite competitive, and they would like to see some original ideas (that couldn't be implemented in this phase) come to fruition possibly under Phase 2 expansion in the future (that would be after the completion of the MRP at 2012/2013) and provided that their current MRP is financial success and they get the necessary funding for Phase 2. By expanding its roster of new attractions, it is giving HKDL run for his money.

More evidence that there is Bobsled in this "Polar Adventure" attraction.

New Building plans have been approved for "3 Bobsled Stations" and "1 Kiosk" in January 2009 by the Building Dept of HK.

So it is very likely that the "Arctic Blast" coaster mentioned by HKOP is a Bobsled Coaster.
