Ummm....let me put this to the OP.

Would you rather let your child's bag be searched or would you rather let a deranged parent smuggle a gun or other weapon in their child's bag, because they were NOT searched. It's called security, it's for YOUR security and well-being!

Wow. I don't know what planet you're originally from, but here on Earth it's pretty commonplace for bag checks at most major amusement/theme parks. It's also common for bag searches at concerts and sporting events. They want to make sure you're not bringing in something you're not supposed to, like weapons, glass bottles/containers... some establishments don't allow outside food/drink/alcohol, so they check to make sure you're not sneaking something in. And they do it because somewhere out there, someone WILL attempt to break the rules. Like the old saying goes, one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch.
