![]() | Hong Kong to introduce more attractions, RTHK News Quote:
Translation: Assistant Tourism Commissioner of Hong Kong "we are not afraid of competition with Disney Shanghai, Hong Kong will introduce more new attractions" She says Hong Kong will build new attractions besides the expansion of HK Disneyland and HK Ocean Park in response to competition ahead from Shanghai and Shanghai Disney. --------------------------------------- Probably she is talking about the Multi Billion (HK$21 billion) New WKCD (West Kowloon Cultural District) project, the New Cruise Terminal at Old Kai Tak Airport Site, the Central Police Station Project, New Harbourfront revitalizaton project, New Disney Downtown @HKDL, ....or perhaps there are some more new attractions in the pipeline that i don't know of....??? by the way, Hong Kong is considering bidding for the Asian Games in 2019. (hong kong is hosting the East Asian Games 2009 in December). With the successful equestrian Event of Beijing Olympic Games 2008 at Hong Kong, Hong Kong is planning to host more sports event. Some people suggest Hong Kong and Shenzhen to jointly bid for Olympic Games in 202X.

![]() | Re: Hong Kong to introduce more attractions, RTHK News Ocean Park is also going through a lot of changes and these would be completed in 2012. There is already a new Panda house using building materials that are the same as the "Water Cube" in Beijing. There will be 3 new hotels at HKOP. It is good to bid for the 2019 Asian Games, but the problem is that with 2010 Games in Guangzhou and the 2014 Games in Incheon, Korea, the committee might feel pressured to award the games to West Asia or South Asia in 2019. |

![]() | Re: Hong Kong to introduce more attractions, RTHK News There will be a public viewing platform at the ICC on the 100th floor also, originally scheduled to open in 2010. But because of the construction accident that killed six people earlier this year, work has been suspended on the building. |
