That survey is NOT TRUE AT ALL. This topic has actually been brought to a Legislative Council meeting. If I remember correctly, a legislator asked a Disney representative if counting photo opps as attractions were trifling with locals.

Pooh is more international while those queuing for Space Mountain are usually locals (HKers comprise small part of park guests), judging from the languages they speak. And from what I've observed, most mainlanders prefer mild spinning rides and southeast asians like shows. For locals, well, if Disney add REAL classic Disney/thrill rides, they'll go crazy like the Japanese do. (Notice how crowded the park is during Halloween)

Still, Asa stands corrected that the WDC doesn't have the same resources as the OLC. Just look at how long it took for the FL expansion at Disney World and the DCA make-over. The financial decisions alone are reason to ax a good idea from a brilliant concept. On top of that, they already know that building only half of a park and later expanding it "when the profit rakes in" didn't quite go so well with HKDL.

What they could do (and would save them some money) is building a thrill park with typical but fully themed thrill rides with a mix of Disney, Pixar and Marvel characters/films. That will get them some attention from the teenage crowd while still holding the rest of the family due to the immersive themes.

With the profits of that, they can fix HKDL and we'll all be happy.

ORWEN: Thank you to both HKDLFAN & IluvHKDL for your answers to my question. I kind of thought that survey was bogus, too. I'm glad somebody else around here sees through all that nonsense. Wasn't it the Disney company who started that false rumor?

ORGOCH: Yeah, as a reason NOT ta spend more on rides over there! They's a bunch a fools!!

ORDDU: Of course HKDL was built during the Pressler/Eisner era.

ORGOCH: What's yer point, sister? I don't see a whole lot a changes fer the better since them two goomers been gone!

I will accept change of name from DisneyAir to DisneySky, but I have no idea where you got the idea of DisneySoil or DisneyGas.

DisneyAir will still be a great name for a Disney operated airline. Just like DragonAir or SilkAir.

DisneyAir is a great name for Disney Airlines... but for a park...come on. At DisneySEA they have built a harbour and it offers views of the real ocean. I personally thought that air as a theme... is thin as air.

    How about this:
DisenyFun, where fun is fun. A park based on the thought that people have fun there.
    Letīs hope not.

When it comes to surveys and stuff I belive that any themepark needs a good balance between calm and thrilling rides. A good park should have the full spectrum. DLP in that sense is the perfect themepark. It has a great design, it has thrilling highspeed and more moderate thillrides, calm rides and shows. No other Disneyland has any REAL thrillrides. Most non disney fans see Space Mountains as very tame coasters compared to what is offered at other parks.

I once read here that they donīt have a Splash Mountain in HKDL because people in Asia donīt like to get wett. I hope itīs not true.

DisneySKY wouldn't be such a bad idea. Simply take the concept of DisneySEA and apply it to aviation, so instead of the Nautilus you find the Hyperion in the Discovery Skyport etc.

I could go totally behind a DisneySky idea. It reminds me of dirigibles, and ahem, Pixar-lovers and haters watch out, an UP attraction. I'd think of a dark ride, but that seems to be waste of well, open-air.

Dumbo land? I think someone already mentioned Peter Pan, among other things. Not as flexible as the Sea theme at first glance, but a lot of those attractions in DisneySea are not limited to the sea anyway. Star Tours could find a home here too.

Or how about combining both and coming up with DisneyEarthSea. Kidding of course, Ursula LeGuin would have a fit.

For those who have seen Disneyland and DisneySea, they will want to complete the set and visit DisneySky. This means they will come and visit HK Disney Resort. There are many Disney rides that have an aeronautical theme already anyway as I listed earlier. Marvel heroes like Iron Man, Thor and Hulk are all capable of flying or leaping to great heights so adding them won't confuse the theme.

Some talented students designed an interesting ride based on UP:

    A great first post Michael

Am I naive to think that more than Toy Story Land will be finished this year?

Probably naive, but I'm with you. Hoping for more than just TSL. Or at least Mystic Manor finished by next year.

I believe the order of openings is TSL this year, Grizzly Gulch next, and Mystic Manor the following.

Thanks for sharing. It's really impressive ! Unfortunately the lands are too close to each other... and there is no space for any extension...
