Grizzly Gulch willl be very toonified

Many had feared that Mystic Manor would be a ride made as if it was based on a cartoon. Grizzly Gulch and the coaster to go with it WILL be the very same.
I think it takes away from the experience to have AAs that dont look real. Mystic Manor will not be very mystic and the bears will be more like Pooh.

Looks like Country Bear Jamboree. Hmmm I wonder if any of the old CBJ animatronics are going to HK?

ORDDU: Yes, I'd say the bears from Grizzly Gulch actually look more like the bears from Country Bear Jamboree.

That still does not mean that the bears on the ride will be fanciful/believable vs. more naturalistic/realistic, the character on the sign might just be a 'mascot' for the land such as Smokey Bear or Woodsy Owl. Having a memorable character representing the land can be great for marketing and great way to quickly give an idea of the flavor of the area.

^Agreed. I think the most reliable indicator of the style of the AA bears on the coaster remains the publicly-displayed maquette rather than the bear on the signpost...

I think the maquette strikes a nice balance between realism and animation and works well. I would be surprised if the on-ride bears were now going to be wearing clothes, eye glasses, etc. Of course, anything is possible...

Sorry but I'm pretty sure you are wrong. The bears in the ride remain the same as the model shown above.

I hope that I am wrong. Still... there is a bear with a hat. It tells alot about in what direction they want the new additions to go. Mystic Manor is getting the same treatment.

Lets hope they never build a Journey To The Center Of The Earth in HKDL.

Maybe it's due to the fact that the sign is in the middle of a land based off a cartoon? ALL the images on the labels in Toy Story Playland are cartoon-ish.

Grizzly Gulch is staying with the models shown at the D23 Expo.

That definitely is illogical. Its not like the sign is made of toys or anything. The sign isn't tied to Toy Story Playland at all. The MP for Mystic Point isn't "cartoon-ish". This IS part of Grizzly Gulch.

None the less, I find this cute. I don't think they're going to replace the bears shown at the 09 Expo with talking/clothes wearing/Country Bear style characters. Instead I think that the sole purpose of this figure is to show the 2 main themes of the area: Bears and Cowboys. I think its fine as a conceptual character to represent a land. Playful and comical, much like the bears personalities on the ride.

    Hey Guys,

Let's step back and look again at the video.
The sign post of the two remaining lands are subject to change when they are due to open.
So who knows. This might not be what is going to be like.
We should wait to see what's install for us from HKDL.

Re: Grizzly Gulch willl be very toonified

The sign is not indicative of the artwork of the AAs. The Woody on the sign is more of the storybook art Woody, whereas the statue of Woody is more of the "real" film Woody. The antics of the bears have always seemed cartoony in nature, so I don't understand what the fuss is about. It'll be weird to have realistic bears rubbing their bums against railroad switches or setting off dynamite. In fact, I think that'll be more than just a little creepy. MM's cartoony looked has been discussed on the other thread at great length, but RandySavage outlines the main arguments well enough. I also remember Kuhio mentioning the neckerchief donning bear in the same thread. So nothing really new. I'd personally love to see the return, even in spirit, of Humphrey the Bear. His cartoons always cracked me up as a kid!
