I'm counting on at least two months of soft openings before that. Perhaps a public soft opening as soon as July 17th. Which would fit nicely into my travel schedule.
It will soft open from late August onwards but only to cast members and "friends of Disney". The public and press technically wont be allowed in until Sept 12, though that wont stop people from trying to sneak in.
The date, by the way, will be Sept 11 in the US. I find it somewhat amusing that a US company is having a major opening on the anniversary of 9/11. But maybe that's just me.
I know the Main Street Electrical Parade is being sent there from Paris & is billed as being a major part of the Grand Opening.
If that's true then this is the second time that particular version of MSEP is being shipped to another DL park.
It was originally created for Magic Kingdom back in 1977 & ran there through September 1991;
replaced in 1992 by Spectro Magic.
Then it was shipped to Marne La Vallee, France to become the MSEP for Euro Disneyland.
The parade ran in EDL from April 12, 1992 through March 23, 2003;
replaced by Fantillusion (originally from Tokyo Disneyland) July 5, 2003.
It's too bad that it won't open before August. Right now I'm on the home stretch of my Disney Grand Slam. I went to Disneyland in August, Tokyo Disney in September, Disneyworld in December, and I'll be in Disneyland Paris in April. It would have been fun to get all 5 within a 12 month strech.
Unless of course I go to Hong Kong for opening day and then stop in California on the way home....... Oooooohhhh...... Other than "crazy" what would that be called? The Disney Pentuplet? Too bad I'm running out of $$$.
Evil Minion you are 100% correct w/ that MSEP timetable. My only wish for that particular version of the MSEP is that it could return home to FL so that HKDL could get a NEW nightime parade that no Disney park has.
In response to which parade they're sending to HK Disneyland -- I had heard they were going to ship over Parade of Stars from Disneyland (a full exact copy) but they've decided to scratch that idea and only take a few floats, combine them with some of Tokyo Disney floats (sorry. don't know which ones - cuz i've never been to Tokyo Disney!! ) - and build a new parade from those two. I'm glad they didn't decide to keep the entire POTS because that would REALLY mean that they don't care about HKD at all! AT least we know now that they care just a little... heh
