For how long is this... thing... supposed to be on Mainstreet U.S.A?
It looks terrible.
oh my... that is very terrible!
Horrible! I want to know know happen to the wdi and hkdl!!!
I hope it is only temporary... but I doubt it.
ORDDU: I thought that covering was always there, actually, but I must be wrong. I do know that HKDL has to build restaurants and attractions with the provision of monsoons in mind. The wind and rain over there can be overwhelming, from what we'vre read.
Yeah, That is correct they get heavy rainfall... I am surprised they do not have all of Mainstreet covered like they do at Tokyo Disneyland.
Do you guys think it is a cover?
They really shoehorned this one in.
ORDDU: That's what my sisters and I expected when we first heard that Hong Kong would be getting a Disneyland park, calvakasc, duckling. But, then, we never really liked that cover over Tokyo's Main Street. Even though it serves a most practical purpose, it detracts from the beauty of their Main Street--in our humble opinions. So we're actually glad that Hong Kong didn't do this same thing with their Main Street. Now it's a matter of making certain, ugly compromises. So, yes, Timmy, Dear, that's what our suspicion is about this cover--that it's being added for weather protection. Isn't there another restaurant further down HKDL's Main Street that also has a similar weather protecting cover?
That monstrosity was not always there.
Here are some pics from either 2009 or 2011:photos by Robert TG.
I didn't take those pics or post them.
The original shade structure was well themed and actually looked good!
Hopefully the monster is very temporary. Who thought that would be ok?!
I made this video on Mainstreet 2 months ago, just before this... thing appeared:
it looks like a police station... in a bad way
It's not something for Halloween is it? Don't they have something on Main Street that's temporary?
Itīs going to be a store... or some sales thing that will be connected to the one of the buildings. What I have read about it... itīs there to stay.
OMG, that's one ugly thing. It completely ruins the look of Main Street.
Timmy, where did you read about that thing?
....but at Hong Kong Main Street Gazette ( one can also read a bit about the monster.
