would be nice if they could fit a fun "rafting" ride into the the land.

We were sent over there with the message that only we would defend Disney quality.. We learnt quickly that the Japanese culture speaks to a level of quality that is hard to comprehend. They were all unbelievably skilled and willing to do the right thing.

Wonderful photos and video. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Other photos -- and the walkthrough video -- also show just how prominently Mystic Manor can be seen throughout Grizzly Gulch.

The conceptual design really is exceptionally well-thought-out. Carson Mansion was constructed in the same decade as Grizzly Gulch's putative founding, and in fact was completed just two years before the "town" of GG was established. Consistent with the general geographic theme, Carson Mansion is also located in Northern California (albeit not in the Sierra Nevadas).

Still, I wonder whether some guests, unaware of Carson Mansion or its period-correct architectural style, might think the design of Mystic Manor seems incongruous with the more rustic look of the Grizzly Gulch buildings. A building like Phantom Manor, whose Second Empire architecture is equally consistent with Grizzly Gulch's era, might visually look more a part of the same themed backdrop (not that I'm advocating a different style for MM).

As an aside, my favorite example of effective visual congruency is the match in color and similarity in style between Epcot's Morocco Pavilion and the Tower of Terror in DHS. Although the structures are in different parks and embody different time periods and locations, the visual fit helps the much taller Tower blend into the World Showcase setting.

Something else I really like about Grizzly Gulch: the placement of the various town buildings relative to each other, and the fact that you can walk completely around many of them. It serves to make you feel like you're in a real location, as opposed to a stage setting comprising primarily building facades.

Great trip report! I do admit the ride looks like Big Thunder meets Expedition: Everest.

Thanks again for all the pictures! Does someone know if HKDL has an exclusivity contract that prohibits copying GG to other parks?

Five years world-wide exclusivity to HKDL from day of opening.

    Grizzly Gulch is HKDL´s Frontierland.

It's a modified Frontierland and it fits perfectly in Hong Kong Disneyland. If you look at Frontierland its hot and desolate lack of vegetation. Because Hong Kong is located in the tropics it makes sense to have a theme with lots of vegetation. In order to keep the wild west theme, Disney moved the wild west into the mountains where there are lots of trees. The also combine the Country Bear Jamboree in this attraction too.

I really like the theming and the coaster, a great work was done here, specialy with the rock mountain and the geisers, they look real, and the little town of course.
The only thing I could mention is some feeling of "tidiness" I see in the pics, maybe a little bit of untidiness, not so many fences, more rust in everything, just like carsland, could give the final touch to this masterpiece

Thanks for the great pictures and videos Keithlee83, HKDLsuper, BennetShui! I have no idea when I will head east again, but this is making me hope soon. Big Grizzly Mt. is WDI at its best, no movie tie-ins, but a standalone story, love it! I also like how Grizzy Gulch looks like a nice mix between frontierland and bear country. Can't wait to see Mystic Point!
