HKDL Ticket Holder Lanyard

I recently received a ticket holder lanyard from HKDL as a gift. It has a plastic pouch hanging from a metal ring and also a short loop of string hanging there as well. What is this loop for?

I bought similar ticket holder lanyards at Tokyo Disneyland when we visited last year. The one I bought had a small string on a ring which is meant to be used as a cellular phone strap. I guess the strap you received is also meant for that purpose? My lanyard strap also included a small black rubber ring which is meant to be placed around small plastic bottle necks.
