[Marvel Land] might debut on or before 2017

　　據了解，香港迪士尼正與港府積極討論次輪擴建，其中一個方案是建議興建以漫畫人物為主
題的「ＭＡＲＶＥＬ　ＬＡＮＤ」，香港有機會成為全球或亞洲首個有該新園區的迪士尼，並可
能於２０１７年或之前啟用。
　　據悉，港府與迪士尼均希望今年內能就擴建達共識，但造價或達數十億元，港府可能要向立
法會申請撥款，作第二度注資，以保大股東地位；港府本月２７日發表新一份財政預算案，或會
提及兩個主題樂園的擴建進展。
　　消息透露，迪士尼已向港府提交不同擴建方案，包括建造不同主題區，ＭＡＲＶＥＬ　
ＬＡＮＤ為其中一個建議，可能於２０１７年或之前啟用，但目前仍未落實。《香港經濟日報》

WDC has proposed several expansion options to HK Government, and one of them being Marvel Land. Nothing is confirmed yet. And if they agree to build Marvel Land, it is estimated that it would debut on or before 2017.

would this take the spot of the old pirates land????

What is Marvel land? How would it look? Like that Marvel Island in IOA? Sure hope not.

One thing is for sure... if it´s in HKDL... this land will only have one ride.

^Well Marvel Island didn't have to fit the Disney image, whereas 'Marvel Land', you would hope, would have at the very least a bit more thematic detail.

It'd be a shame if they did just have one attraction, and even if its a great one we'd all want more. And then there's the argument that a Marvel land (with multiple attractions) would be better suited for a second gate.

If they do add this to HKDL, I'd hope they let them have some exclusives over SDL.

Of course it will be different from IOA's Marvel Superhero Island. WDI is smart enough to do things differently to avoid comparison, whether favourably or unfavourably.

Al Lutz previously mentioned an Iron Man e-ticket planned for Tomorrowland in DL, then they shelved it because they wanted to open a whole new land for Marvel instead, seeing how successful Cars Land has been so far.

Now Marvel Land is rumoured not just for HKDL, but also Paris (See Disney and more). So there is definitely something on the WDI's drawing boards and WDC thinks positively about it enough to leak the rumours for the 3 parks.

INTERESTING! I had a chance to work on the pilot and following shows of The Man From Atlantis, a Marvel Character, back in the 70's. It starred a young Patrick Duffy, picked from a McDonald's commercial, long before Dallas. Man From Atlantis was the first TV show from America that was allowed to be shown in the Peoples Republic of China back in 1980. Seems Marvel Super Hero's would fit right in to the new Shanghai Disneyland. PD

I'll admit, that's an interesting question. If we were talking WDS, I'd say it'd be a simple New York street façade job, but in HKDL, now that's another story.

Um, it would be a land all about superheroes, just as Fantasyland is all about fantasy characters and Tomorrowland is all about futuristic sci-fi characters. Why would the theming be any less in Marvel Land? :)

The conversion of Innoventions into a Marvel attraction has not been cancelled, but it's not an Iron Man attraction--it's an AVENGER's attraction.

It's such a relief to finally hear someone say something bad about Marvel Island in IOA. Worst themed area I've ever seen. It's not even themed...it's 'decorated' with a bunch of comic book character cut outs. I can't name a single thing I liked about that area.

I really think this is why I'm so repelled by Disney adding Marvel to theme parks. Universal did such an awful job with it and I can't see Disney doing anything different with it seeing the way they've shoehorned Pixar into everything lately.

ORDDU: I have to agree with Timmy and manifest. The whole Marvel universe is so 'plastic' and unappealing all the way around. It would be difficult for anyone to make it into anything appealing because the core source material is just too cold, violent and austere to deserve an attraction anywhere.

Since a long time ago. They're already fabricating the innards.
