HK Gov plans to reclaim 60-100 hectare of land at Sunny Bay

Stage 2 public Engagement (consultation) is now underway, HK gov plans to reclaim 60-100 hectare of land at Sunny Bay.

The potential reclamation site at Sunny Bay can be developed as an entertainment and business node of regional significance, which will foster the sustainable economic development of Lantau and Hong Kong.
They might start work on reclamation as early as 2016 and to be completed by 2019.

The new supply of reclaimed land might be used for purposes compatible with tourism and recreation in future.

i don't rule out the possibility of another theme park, or some entertainment facilities related to supporting theme park.

Is that an extremely early concept? HKDL doesn't even look like it did at opening in the model. If that's the case, then that may not be the scale of the second gate. Especially not with all that land behind it

Yes, the last pic is an extremely early conceptual design. The vacant land behind gate 2 is still ocean water. (Land for gate 2 has been reclaimed)

I knew its old but Ill bet you that will be the shape of the park more or less. The oceanfront land will be too valuable to "waste" on park space when they can build ocean view hotels along the shore line.

But who knows? Maybe they could have a spectacular second gate and have a land that would appropriately take advantage of the view. Like if they built a Marvel land, it could use the shoreline and view of the city to create a grander NYC/Manhattan area. If they built a boardwalk themed area, the same.

Instead of reclaiming the land, how about an underwater theme park?

There will be no "ocean view" hotels. In Hong Kong there are only "harbour" views. The vast water near Hong Kong is the South China Sea, so no ocean views here either. They are sea views.

The reclaimed land will be for a destination hotel style resort aimed at mainland tourists that desire a less than 5 star experience. The idea will have shopping, fancy pools (though few mainlanders can swim), and theater style entertainment. It will of course offer foods preferred by tourists, and that will suck diners from the HKDL resort.
