Waves and waves of promotions by HK Tourism Board and HKDL in Mainland China and areas in South East Asia have resulted in a soon-to-be record-breaking Chinese New Year Festive Period for 2006.
Almost all hotels will be Full during 29th Jan 2006 - 2nd Feb 2006. (1st day - 5th Day of Chinese New Year - Year of the Dog).
According to the spokeman of HK Tourism Board, there would be around 500,000 tourists from Mainland China during the 10 day period (27th Jan 2006 - 5th Feb 2006), an increase of 10% over the same period last year. Over 50% of the mainland tourists are expected to be on "Individual-Visit Scheme".
A Tour Bus operator revealed that there wouldn't be enough Tour buses for the Chinese New Year Festive Period due to the huge influx of Tourists from Mainland China, School Buses might be used instead.
They all said it is the result of "Disney Effect" and a succcessful promotion by Hong Kong Tourism Board and Hong Kong Disneyland.
