HKDL railroad closed for a year for Iron Man construction

    From the HKDL calendar:

Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad February 17, 2014 early 2015 (service suspension
due to construction of the Iron Man Experience)
So it's a long time, and they are closing the whole attraction instead of just half of it just like during iasw construction. Hopefully they will add a stop at Mystic Point during this time.

In other news, the Chinese name for Iron Man Experience has changed from "Iron Man's Headquarters" to the current "Iron Man's Flight".

Re: HKDL railroad closed for a year for Iron Man construction

If construction for The Iron Man experience will only take one year, why is the opening date still scheduled for 2016? Why not open it earlier since construction apparently ends "in early 2015".

The project will probably continue construction since it looks like they rearrange the area, the one year closure is probably for infrastructure changes near the railroad tracks

ORWEN: They sure have closed down the train a whole lot of times for construction purposes over the years. Seems like poor planning on somebody's part. What they really should have done is to expand the train tracks by now.

ORDDU: At least we now know that construction on the Iron Man attraction will begin soon. That much is good news.

Where is your source for this news?

In Chinese it is changed but in English it is still Iron Man Experience.

As they expand around the berm piece by piece you would think they could of preplanned enough to not disturb the train each time.

Apparently the construction there will affect the portion of the track where the trains return to the depot for routine maintenance. This wasn't a problem with the previous expansion works.

ORDDU: On another Disney web footed site there was a duckling who explained that HKDL's train tracks were originally built with the capability to be expanded out. But, due to a desire to save money, they haven't gone forward with this idea. Oh well...

That's because HKDL needs a Chinese attraction name which can be easily let the guests to define what's inside. Especially for the mainland guests, they would never use their imagination to think about what the attraction is. That's why the Cast Member at Space Mountain has to repeat "This is a roller coaster, this is a roller coaster."(usually in Mandarin) at the entrance. That should be the reason why they changed the Chinese name only. But I hate the new name, it's ugly and sound cheap.

Besides the train will be closed for a year, the Fastpass service of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters will be shut down until late 2016, it's about the time when Ironman Experience opens.

Re: HKDL railroad closed for a year for Iron Man construction

I was just thinking maybe this is a good chance for HKDL to re-align the train's seats, so that the passengers will look forward with open windows on both sides.

That will allow the passengers to see Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Manor, Toy Story Land, It's a Small World, Golden Mickey and Autopia on the left as well as what is already on offer on the right. For the lands that are not yet built out, use trees or walls to cover them (as usual).

This will give the guests better views and atmosphere and encourage them to visit the new lands, which HKDL said have not been receiving as many visitors as they had initially expected.

If at all possible, they should make the train depot a proper stop for the train, too. That will certainly drive more traffic to the 3 new lands.

ORDDU: You're expecting them to be logical Asa, duckling. Unfortunately that's just asking too much.

The new lands does not get as many guests as they wanted because they did not build as many rides as the guests wanted. One ride per land is not enough. Toy Story Land will never be enough. The only good thing about the cheap Toy Story Land is that one can ride the RC Racer a hundred times in a row without having to wait at all most days.

Although the park master plan is terribly bad... at least we got the unique version of Big Thunder Mountain (mine train), a unique version of Haunted Mansion (amazing dark ride), and soon... a unique version of Star Tours (3-D simulator)... 3 E Tickets at 2012, 2013 and 2016, and should be something new happens at 2015 for 10th anniversary. So that is really a big thing for HKDL for few years. After this, we may get a unique log flume of splash mountain, a unique pirate with new audio animatronics and HKDL will be amazing. If the park is so good, we wont get any unique features like Mystic Manor for example. :P :P
