Even if you consider yourself to fall under the “numeric dummies” category, you are still expected to know the vast difference between seven million and 70 million. Around 7 million Hong Kong residents made over 70 million trips to destinations outside the country last year, up 4.9 per cent from 2004; according to official statistics from the Hong Kong government.

China reported that in 2005 Hong Kong residents made close to 23 million overnight trips to the country while over 1 million trips were made to and reported by Macau.

Hong Kong’s outbound figure may be comparable to China’s record, which reached 31 million trips including those to Hong Kong and Macau.
