    1st Gay Day@Hong Kong Disneyland

    THANK YOU THANK YOU
WHAT A DAY.... Hong Kong's first Pride on the Water!

The day was fantastic, the sun was out and we had about 600 people on 15 boats. Fridae.com, Cocktails Boat, Fruits and Suits, Dim Sum Magazine, G Magazine, Les Peches, Drag On, HX, and a few more I never knew... Club Kids, Singapore Studs, the Older Guys, and the Girls all came together fo a wonderful day on the water.... the music was pumping and it is everything I could have ever wanted to see... a wonderful city with a wonderful mixture of diverse people... we did it.

Disney was a blast... the numbers of red shirts were low but I was told by a Disney Cast member that the origional Disney Gay Day in Orlando started with 12 people, we had about 150. That's inspiration and that's a start... Take these two events together and we have something special... Gay Day... Hong Kong Style...

Congratulations and a personal thank you to everyone that attended... as this was not my party... this was yours... Cheers and feel free to drop me a line for next year...

Wait a second...we were just discussing in English class how the Chinese philosophy is there are no gay people in China. Yet here they had an event with no tanks showing up? Hmm. Hong Kong really is seperated from the main land...no wonder Red China wants a Disneyland in Shanghai.

I think you cant be openly gay at China, cause of course there are gay people everywhere in the world even in the Middle East, they just cant show it or they'll get shot. But HK was a former coloney so, they might not care.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosex...a#Modern_China

A notable change occurred during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when sodomy was decriminalized in 1997, and the new Chinese Classification and Diagnostic Criteria of Mental Disorders removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses on April 20, 2001. The situation has continued to evolve in 2004. Many consider the magazine "Menbox" [3] to be a gay magazine in all but name. Recently, a transsexual woman, Chen Lili was allowed to compete in the China selection pageant for the Miss Universe competition.
There's still a lot of prejudice, though, and no actual laws regarding what's okay.

Hong Kong has it's own law that bars homosexual sex when men are under 21.

There is quite a lot of gay cinema that comes out of China, too... take a look at what's on sale. And most of that is region 0 and english subtitled, if you're interested. The only one of those I've seen is Rice Rhapsody, which was produced by Jackie Chan.

Hong Kong is a SAR (Special Administrative Region) and still has lot of the
laws deriving from English ones regarding domestic issues. Also the standards and outlook of the general populace is quite a bit different as well.

The Bejing government (to their credit) has not been too heavy handed at all
esp w/ local issues (although they obvious have meddled). And a lot of the
judiciary and governmental bodies that existed previously still exist in HK.
