    Smoking at Hong Kong Disneyland

As we all know that the Chinese like their tobacco, is it safe to assume that Hong Kong Disneyland will have a smoker-friendly smoking policy like Disneyland Paris?

I assume HKDL will probably have a similar smoking policy to those at TDR, WDW, and DLR. DLP as we know..is hopeless since their guests disregard policies and are not keen to be told (nor respect) to smoke or behave properly while in the park. It's an euro thing I guess..

It goes without saying. All Magic Kingdom parks have designated smoking spots.

Eurgh. I would never spit anywhere, let alone a Disney park. A NEW Disney park! Well I think they are doing the right thing. I would do exactly the same - but maybe implementing fines and then encouraging guests to spit may help out with funding Phase 2

I heard even the characters will smoke at HKDL. Just to be culturally relevant. Snow White will nervously drag on a Virgina Slim, Simba on a Kent.

Yes, this is true, in Beijing there is so much air pollution you can go to "oxygen bars" to breathe fresh air!

Well you know Paris, France and Tokyo, Japan are both democratic free countries.

Hong Kong, now that it's part of China again, even though it is semi autonomous is under the thumb of the Beijing government and I would expect anyone who gets arrested in the park will never be heard from again.

So I wouldn't break any rules, people ! ! ! No spitting out the window on the monorail if you dont want to disappear in to a gulag.

ORWEN: Like as if the management at Disney Theme parks even ENFORCES these no smoking rules. Just last week--while eating that Pinocchio Village Hauss at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom--we saw this man light up a cigarette there--even as a cast member was cleaning up tables nearby--only to be ignored. I guess the cast members don't like confrontation any better than the next witch does. Still, you'd think the cast member would have said something to make the guest put out his fag...

Oh for crying out loud, it's not all THAT bad. Sure, a system of designated smoking areas wouldn't kill them and the chance of getting smoke blown in your face while in queue is there, but it's not like we're a continent of rude anarchists going around intoxicated with sigars permanently planted between our fingers. It is not a "euro thing".

...and you probably have never been to DLP, otherwise you'd know what I am talking about, and that the problem does go beyond the smoking situation but also into other areas of guest behavior in the parks. ..And yes: it IS an 'euro thing', because for example..the japanese smoke like there is no tomorrow but respect "no smoking" rules. The euros do not like to be told NOT to do something, and still disregard without cares. That is my constant experience when I am in Europe, and I do go there often enough, thank you.

I've been to Disneyland Paris countless times and I live quite nearby, actually... I just think you're exaggerating. Sure, during parades people climb onto the grass and people do smoke in queues once in a blue moon... But don't generalise an entire continent as being rude anarchists.

I'm sure I am, but then I'm no poster child for Europe, haha.

And the DLRP policy... Is there one? They don't have designated smoking areas outside, that's for sure.
