Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting Held at Hong Kong Disneyland
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Hong Kong Disneyland was the site of the Jan. 21 meeting of District Administrators from around the Asia-Pacific Region, as plans were laid for the 2007 season.
Hosted by B.H. Chow, Asia-Pacific Region director, with Patrick Wilson (Little League International vice president of operations), the meeting focused on the International Tournament.
It was decided that Hong Kong Disneyland will host the Asia-Pacific Major Baseball Division Regional Tournament for the next four years. Guam will be the site of the Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball Regional Tournaments in 2007. The Philippines will host all of the softball division regional tournaments in 2007.
“The District Administrators of the Asia-Pacific Region are eagerly anticipating the 2007 season,” Mr. Wilson said. “We expect more participation this year in the region than ever before. The meeting was well-attended and resulted in firm plans for the coming season.”
The Asia-Pacific Region is composed of the following countries: China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Australia, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Philippines. In the Little League Baseball Division, the national champion of Japan receives a berth in the Little League Baseball World Series, with the balance of the countries in the region playing off for another berth each year.
