New Cruise Terminal open for tender: Opportunities for HKDL/Walt Disney Company
HK Government is inviting tender for the New Cruise Terminal at South East Kowloon (the old airport site) at the 4th Quarter this year.
The project will include a shopping centre around 500,000 sq. feet. Result of the tender to be announced sometime next year and the tentative opening date for the cruise terminal is around Feb 2012. estimated minimum price : HK$3.2 billion plus land premium to be determined (50 years), estimated price around hk$7.2 - 8 billion |

A vaguely related possibility could be Disney extending their cruise line to Hong Kong. It seems unlikely though...

Loomis, you think Disney will run the Disney Cruise line out here in Asia like they did in Orlando? I could see it sail to Tokyo,Shanghai, Taipei, Singapore and Sydney as a possibility. Could help bring more people to the park.

I don't think Disney Cruises will work in HK at all. The lack of a casino and the resulting higher prices are just not Chinese people's cup of tea.
I don't think the new Cruise Ship Terminal will benefit HKDL in anyway. It will make HK a more attractive cruise ship stop but whether the tourists that come to HK will want to visit HKDL or not depends on HKDL. |

And the tour guide people on board ship. Remember the last BIG cruise ship that came here. "Don't bother going into town, the people are rude, the food is terrible, the museums don't match up to those in Shanghi, and the pollution is bad." Or something along those lines....
