How is the park going to compete against Ocean Park
I've just been looking through the Ocean Park website at the new devolpment plan that the park is currently under going. The plans all look impressive and I've got to ask how is Hong Kong Disneyland going to compete with this park once all the expansion is finished.

What kind of a question is that? Maybe company wallflies like the guy from Tales may be able to answer, but us? I for one, do not care to speculate.

I predict a series of waffle based promotions, each with a different seasonal topping.

If you go back to the sections main page you'll see I've marked the thread under (CHAT) as I'm not looking for answers here just want to discuss Ocean Parks big expansion plans and how they may hurt Hong Kong Disneyland in the very near future. The plans call for major expansion of the actual theme park, three new hotels,as well as a proposed new MTR Station to make it far easier for tourist and locals to get to the park.Pop over to the Ocean Park website to view all the fantastic concept art thats currently on display. And than tell me how Disney is going to compete against this park in the near future, the answer is its going to have to raise some serious capital from somewhere to not only compete with the offerings found at Ocean Park but to also change locals opinions of the place.
And before you ask yes Disney do consider Ocean Park serious competetion and thats a big factor in the company annoucing a huge Halloween event this year to match the usually big events Ocean Park do every year.

I've got a good slogan for it...A Year of a Million Waffles

After a scene in The Graduate:
"I want to say one word to you. Just one word."
"Yes, sir."
"Are you listening?"
"Yes, I am."
"Pandas."

ORDDU: Perhaps Hong Kong Disneyland might also have Fairytale wedding ceremonies performed on property--like the other Disney Resorts are already doing. Loomis might even become one ofthe first grooms to tie his knot on the premises--due to all his romantic Disney enthusiasm. Of course, first, he has to make sure he's marrying the right witch! Thus far he seems to be failing in that department because--instead of proposing to me--he seems to have proposed to someone else! Of course it's not too late to correct such a mistake. (pause) I'm waiting....

Witches, they already offer that service at HKDL, so even YOU can have your fairy tale wedding at HKDL... The HKDL Hotel has a wedding gazeebo in the garden area...

It's all very nice folks, but I'm going for the cheap glamour of Las Vegas :)
Just love that town...

I like the Venetian in Las Vegas better. ;) Might be visiting in December.
Re: How is the park going to compete against Ocean Park
The Venetian Macau is suppose to be the largest casino in Asia. Still its worth checking out. Cirque du Soleil is suppose to be doing daily shows there.
Re: How is the park going to compete against Ocean Park
Venetian is also the 2nd largest building in the world, it is bigger than its Las Vegas cousin. Only the Boeing hangar is bigger than it. It is a huge complex with all kinds of facilities imaginable inside.
Somehow I wish HK has built HKDL, SkyCity and Asia World Expo all together at one site. This is what Venetian Macao has done basically.
Re: How is the park going to compete against Ocean Park
An article in the New York Times describes the Venetian Macao as being more than three times larger than the largest Vegas casino. That's mind-bogglingly big... I'm not sure what the actual largest casino in Vegas is, but some of them -- like Caesar's Palace and the MGM Grand -- are already ridiculously big.
In fact, you could probably fit several HKDLs inside the Venetian Macao...
