Disney says 2nd China park unlikely before 2010 - Discussion

Following the news thread here a second gate won't open for Hong Kong Disneyland before 2010. Your thoughts? Ideas? Concerns?

Maybe they realize that they need to build up the first park before throwing another half day park in Hong Kong? I think it's a good idea to wait and let Disneyland build itself up to its full potential before starting another.

ORWEN: Well, I don't see why we can't have a Disneyland built in Morva!! Sooner or later, everybody else is going to get a Disneyland but us!!! And it isn't FAIR!!!

In the quote I read, Disney said they would have a 51% stake in the new park, it would be twice as big as HKDLR, and they are more interested in enlarging HKDL park first. Shanghai Disneyland Resort sounds pretty cool.

I think the Chinese Resorts will end up being more well planned and manageable than the American resorts...the Imagineers are gonna get a good work out out of all this expansion.

That is how I feel. We have Knott's Camp Snoopy here in Minnesota... why not Disney camp or a Camp Mickey or heck, Camp Minnie Mickey!?

i think it would be disaterous to have another episode like disney studios paris. i think the longer they wait the better. let the anticpation build up then in 10 years or so hit em with something good... something along the lines of disney sea!!!

The Paris Studio's situation is slightly different. The Disneyland Park is great! And it took about ten years before they added the Studio's.
I agree with you about that they better wait a little bit longer, but not for the same reasons. I think it is for the sake of the first park that they wait longer. That way all the money will go to rides in this park. If they open a second one too soon the budget must be split, so less rides for the first park!
With the Studio's in France they just created a second park that's not as good (i'm friendly) as the first and that has notting to do with building it to soon!
