![]() | Hong Kong Disneyland Awards Scholarships to 12 Hong Kong Students Hong Kong Disneyland today announced the winners of the Disney Scholarships, the first scholarship programme the Park has offered to Hong Kong students. Twelve students from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts' Schools of Dance, Drama, Music, and Theatre & Entertainment Arts have been awarded scholarships by a panel of judges after a thorough selection process. The Disney Scholarships provides full-tuition support and is open for application to full-time students of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Funded by The Walt Disney Company, this scholarship programme underscores the company's support of the training and education of local talent particularly in the areas of the performing and entertainment arts which complements Disney's immersive entertainment activities. Hong Kong Disneyland Director of Show Operations Ms Annie Wharmby said, 'This scholarship programme represents an extension of Disney's heritage of supporting talent development. Hong Kong Disneyland is very proud to be honoring this fine tradition. As a major employer of performing and entertainment professionals in Hong Kong, we believe that this programme will also open up more opportunities for students who are inspired to follow a career in the performing and entertainment arts.' Professor Kevin Thompson welcomed the new initiative of Disney Scholarship and expressed his gratitude to Hong Kong Disneyland. 'The scholarship programme create a chance to build creative talents and develop potential of Hong Kongers and cultural software for future.' During the scholarship presentation ceremony, a special sharing session was conducted for around 140 Academy students by Phyllis Kei and Laertes Wong Chun-tat, graduates of the Academy who are now Cast Members of Hong Kong Disneyland. Phyllis Kei, Disney's Parades Production Stage Manager, commented that 'working for Disney is a dream come true for me. I have learned so much about the operations of the Park and I have made many friends at Hong Kong Disneyland.' Phyllis had a 3-month internship at Walt Disney World, Florida when she was a Year 2 student at the Academy. List of Scholarship Winners: - Dance students: Cherry Leung Tsz-yan, Sarah Lo Sze-long, Tsui Yik-chit; - Drama students: Ho Yuen-tung, Man Sui-hing, Yuen Wai-ying; - Music students: Law Kin-pong, Wan Yat-long, Adrian Yeung Heng ; - Technical and Entertainment Arts students: Cheung Hiu-tung, Cheung Man-lai, Heidy Yu Sze-man. ![]() ![]() Source : HKAPA
