    Nov 23 HKDL Trip Report

    Trip Report

    Nov. 23, 2007
My dad and I have just returned from Hong Kong, and HKDL. On our day devoted to HKDL, we got up and got a bus there from our hotel. We got to the park at 11:00 and there weren’t many crowds.

I like this fountain near the entrance, every once in a while it does a little “show” with the water.

The turnstiles and the train station look almost exactly the same as in DL.

As we were walking in, a Cast Member gave us these glasses that would be used at night for looking at the Christmas decorations.

They have the same quote as in DL, except this one is also in Chinese

The castle and one of the five ‘ice sculptures’ in the hub.

    I love this Tomorrowland sign

First we headed over to Space Mountain. It was a 15 minute wait, and it stayed that long all day.
Space Mountain is much lighter than DL’s. I could see the track all throughout the ride. But, there were asteroids, mostly near the end of the ride, those were interesting. Also, about halfway through the ride, there is a drop, on this drop, there were circles of light that you go through, that added a lot to that part of the ride. This version of Space Mountain seems much faster, but it has the same track layout as DL’s…..hmmmm…

We walked through Fantasyland and checked out the construction of IASW. This façade could be very cool.

Pooh was closed for most of the morning.

    The back of the castle.

This will be continued very soon....

Nice start! IASW looks great! Kind of weird that they just gave you random glasses. I do agree that the Tomorrowland sign looks good.
    Love WoC!!!

    Next DL trip: August 2011

Re: Nov 23 HKDL Trip Report

    ....continued

Next up was Mickey’s PhilharMagic. This attraction was amazing. The 3D was very well done and I found myself reaching out trying to touch everything.

After PhilharMagic, we went on Jungle River Cruise.
Jungle River Cruise was much better than Jungle Cruise in DL. I was expecting a ride very similar to the JC I am used to in DL. But in this version, the AA’s were very smooth, and my favorite scene in JC, the ‘abandoned ruins’, was a very long scene and very well done. Also, when the ride was almost over, there is a huge geyser that throws your boat off course and has an amazingly done scene added. Those factors all made this attraction one of my favorites in this park.

    The ‘abandoned ruins’ scene.

We had lunch at the River View Café. It was pretty good, but nothing special.

    Another castle shot.

The lights that were to be used later that night for the “Sparkling Castle Lights” show.

We got Fastpasses for Pooh. When mine printed, this also came out of it.

    On the way to Autopia.

The Autopia cars are really nice. They are electric and I think they go faster than those in DL.

Buzz was next. It was very similar to the one in DL except that it didn’t take your picture.

We went over to Tarzan’s Treehouse next. I really liked that it was on an island. It gave it a nice feel.

You can see the boats coming from the finale of Jungle River Cruise.

    Time for a break.

Re: Nov 23 HKDL Trip Report

Here's the last part of my trip report:

The theater for “Festival of the Lion King.” This show was put together really well. It was a great show.

We used our Fastpasses for Pooh. I liked it more than the one in DL, except for the dream scene. It seemed very plain in this version.

After Pooh, we went on Orbitron. Each ‘Flying Saucer’ could hold up to four, so the queue went really quickly.

It was six o’clock, and the lighting of the castle wasn’t going to start for another half-hour, so we went to Main Street to go shopping.

We saw that the tree was lit. And we felt that it was time to put on the glasses. They make the Christmas lights look like snowflakes. It was cool to see.

It was almost six, so we went up to the hub to watch Mickey light the castle.

It was a great show. They played music, and Mickey pointed to parts of the castle in time with the music, when he pointed to the parts, they would light up. When it was completely lit up, the castle looked spectacular!

We went around the castle into fantasyland for another run of PhilharMagic.

We went back to Main Street to do some quick shopping before the fireworks.

We went back up to the hub to wait for the fireworks. They were very great, but nothing compared to R…DCT.

We headed out of the park, with one final look at the castle.

    The End

PirateSkellington, you must had a good trip in HKDL. The Sparklig Castle show shot was fabulous. When I was there with my family in 2006, we were addicted to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters that we played again and again.
We are now planning to return to HKDL in 2010.

Nice TR.... Thanks for the pics!

That Christmas Tree on the FP reminds me of the stuff that I used to do as an
undergrad.... (in fact, it's really similar...) ... nearly 25 years ago!
