Frederick Ma, Secretary of Commerce and Economic Development gave a speech at Legislative Council today. "we don't rule out the possibility that we are NOT going to inject further capital into HKDL. We are unable to tell Walt Disney Company how to run theme park business. We can only provide advice and urge them to improve operations at the park."
Source : ForbesOn top of the park’s disappointing turnout, the company has also irritated the city government with recurring reports that another Disneyland is to be built in Shanghai, according to the South China Morning Post, citing an anonymous government official who complained that the Shanghai Disneyland rumor resurfaced whenever the government was negotiating with Disney.
The Hong Kong administration is now hesitant to inject more capital before the park makes a profit. "We have urged the management company to continue to improve operational efficiency and devise cost-effective marketing strategies," the government said in its annual update provided for the Legislative Council, Hong Kong’s parliament, to discuss this Friday.
