Almost everywhere in Hong Kong is served by the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) and it is the best way to arrive at the park. So you want your hotel to be in the best tourist area with a nice view.
Hotel Panorama is the best way to enjoy the view of Victoria Harbor with a reasonable budget. I suggest an Executive Club room in a room on the 30th to 38th floor with the number ending in 13. These rooms have a bathtub with breath taking glass walls. (Don't worry, no on can see in.) The breakfast is included, and the harbor lightshow can be seen from the club lounge with free refreshments.
By American standards the rooms are rather compact, and due to the desire for maximum exposure to the harbor views there are odd angles to the rooms. It's all good. Stephen at the entrance will carefully guide you to where you want to go, and show you the elevator entrance to the MTR that is 50 steps from the hotel. The place is as clean as can be, linens are perfect, and bath amenities are all there. They do charge for internet, but if you book the right package breakfast, some laundry, internet, and minibar soft drinks are included. Call directly (cost me .40 on Google Voice) and ask for a discount, you'll be amazed what they can do from the internet published rates. November is the high season, and booking early gets the best rates.
One of the best features is a card access elevator from the ground to the executive club floors. Your on vacation, you don't want to be tangled up with large tour groups passing from the lower floors (which have no view at all)
The hotel staff has no problem with English, and will do everything possible to make your stay comfortable. There is the world of shopping just steps away in TST. Do get an Octopus card for easy transport on trains, busses, taxi's and public light bus. Octopus is also good at 7-11 and many fast food places. Do make time to take the Star Ferry, cheap, romantic, and a glimpse into life in old Hong Kong.
Leaving is a piece of cake. A short cheap taxi to Kowloon Station. Check your bags at the airline counter there, get a discounted two passenger Airport Express ticket. 25 minutes later the train stops in the airline terminal. Bring your carry-on and pass security. Pick-up your bags at the destination. Like Mickey's Magical Arrivals in Orlando, except in reverse.
