However, the party can still be a value. Last year, we visited Disney's competitors for most of our trip. Under those circumstances, the party was a steal.

Sorry but I disagree about the party being a value. But I can only compare with what the other Disney parks are doing for halloween.
Again, and I hate to bring up Tokyo as an example.. but for 5,800 yen for a day ticket at TDL, I can attend the park from morning opening till closing at 10pm.. and enjoy the entire park's offerings PLUS two different halloween parades, halloween fireworks, special halloween tag endings to regular shows, Nightmare overlay at the haunted mansion.. and tons of other halloween related things like special menus and other keepsake souvenirs for the halloween event. All that for a price that is about $5 more than the regular cost of the halloween party at the MK. Value? My big fat hiney.

The parade does have its nice moments and so does the fireworks.. but why not play these shows for day guests after dark? They do not merit a separate admission price. Its armed robbery.
