Thanks for the great review, Kevin! It makes me want to visit Florida again and visit all the local parks.

Not having watched the show much in recent years (but as a regular in the early years), I wondered if this clip was more recent than the others. I didn't remember it, and the crowd's tittering would have made sense if they hadn't remembered it either (perhaps because they also have watched less of the show in recent years?)
Man, I recognized this right away. It's from "Lisa the Vegetarian", in Season 7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_the_Vegetarian). Yes, I am an obsessive Simpsons fan.

Thanks for the article. I hope to check this ride out in the fall.

Re: 4/29: Simpsons Did It

Simpsons show is still good.

Sounds like a great ride. Hard to tell whether it worth the car rental and price of admission for four, though (in my case).

Did you mean Christopher Lloyd did Doc Brown's voice instead of Lloyd Bridges?

Aren't they also putting one in Universal Studios LA or is it just being placed in Florida?

Great article Kevin. Is the Hollywood ride supposed to be identical?

Re: 4/29: Simpsons Did It

Great article. I agree with you that Disney must have something amazing with that Toy Story Mania to compete with TSR.

One thing, though:
Quote:
Right after the donut, we fly around Maggie herself. Pay careful attention to the left side of the screen. See anything familiar? We're in the famous square where City Hall and the Clock Tower from Hill Valley, the city in Back to the Future! Yet another tribute to the ride which preceded this one. The geek in me loved that there were so many tributes to the past here.
Most likely, that's not a tribute. There actually is a city hall/square in the show itself that looks nearly like the one in the fictional Hill Valley. So, I think it's just supposed to be Springfield's city square. If you've played recent Simpsons video game, or remember the Bart skateboarding sequence from the recent movie, you'll probably know what I'm talking about (a large part of the movie's climax played out in that spot as well)...

I had to giggle at Lloyd Bridges. They dug him up just for this?

Re: 4/29: Simpsons Did It

I've seen the announcements for Simpsons to come to US Hollywood, frankly I didn't think it would be that great - I thought, a 2D cartoon translated into a simulator ride? I'm excited though, after your glowing review, I too love the Simpsons and think it's very smart. Hopefully their satire and humor will keep the ride from being dated in the future, and it will stick around for a while. Quality rides, whether Disney or not, are always welcome, it keeps the market vibrant!

Lloyd Bridges? D'OH!!

(I wish I could say I put that in there intentionally just so I could have a d'oh moment in the micechat thread, but no... I just had some mental hiccup)

Re: 4/29: Simpsons Did It

I don't really think that Toy Story Mania will have a problem beating this ride. Essentially, TSR uses an ancient ride mechanism that has been around for a long time, whereas TSM is using 'cutting edge' technology using a 3-D (or 4-D, as some people argue) mechanism throughout the entire ride (to my understanding). The talking spud out in front of the queue is enough for me to say that TSM will bring newer technology and style than TSR.

Are you absolutely sure it wasn't intentional, Dr Freud? Sounds like the perfect sneaky place for a reading comprehension test, a "Captain James Tyrone Kirk" moment.
Spoiler
(Don't bother correcting me, I know it's Tiberius already...)

Personally, I think we need to get the (allegedly a movie buff) Editor out here to explain how something that glaring got by him "and his staff". Frankly, I expect better fact checking out of MiceAge...
