If they'd taken the card game/aspect out I would totally buy it for the PS2 too. I have it on the gameboy advanced and I never got through it...I just couldn't get into the gameplay. Maybe it's just me.
Yeah the card game aspect of it turned me off too. I played it pretty far (until the Maleficent dragon) and then got too frustrated with the card collecting and the limited range of motion that Sora had.

I beat Riku's story last night. I tried playing it on GBA when it came out a few years ago but it didn't hold my interest very well. I enjoyed it a lot more on PS2 (yeah, I like my games to be movies), and actually once I got used to the card system, I really liked that too.
