Their facebook page says it WILL be open in August. I was there on Saturday, and it looks pretty close to opening, assuming testing goes well (and I would hope so, since they've had at least 3 others to work with already).
I expect that better videos will come along soon. I'd like to see a Knott's Windseeker video (filmed on a rare clear day) that freezes at least four times (N,E, S, & W) with arrows pointing out landmarks like Disneyland.
It will be officially open on August 13th. But may soft open before that.
If I were retired I'd start each day at Knott's, hoping to be the first Micechatter to ride Windseeker!
They should build one of these atop the Stratosphere in Vegas. It wouldn't have to be 300' because it the base would already be 900 feet off the ground. Then again, the Vegas airport might not allow this.
Neat idea, except that the wind at the top of the Strat is usually constant enough at a high enough velocity that it would never operate. While they are less sensitive to winds than the Star Flyers, there is a point where they are programed not to run.

Thanks, Dutchman. Getting blown around on swings by strong winds in 105 degree heat [atop the Stratosphere in Vegas] 1,000 feet off the ground might be an unpleasant adventure. I rode the Desperado coaster in Primm, Nevada, on a hot, windy day, and it was even more uncomfortable than Magic Mountain's Goliath on a nice day--though not as painful as the ear-slamming Space Mountain in Disneyland Paris. I bet there are some miserable experiences being had on the world's fastest coaster on hot days in Dubai. I'd still try it though.
