But due to people leaving their cars during the ride (and allegations of people having sex on the ride), they tethered the cars 5 together, with a very large gap between. Simple, do not reuse the existing ride system.

^I suppose that is simple. Would you like to pay for it on all of our behalves?

Seems kinda pointless, especially if the existing system could still work (and management has hinted it probably still could). Even Monsters, Inc. reused the existing track.
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?

Having worked in the Mine Ride for Haunt, if you saw some pictures of various scenes (especially the cavern) with the lights on, you would be shocked by the amount of damage and abuse these scenes have taken the past few years.

Monsters Inc's ride system was still fairly modern and in great working order when they brought it back. KOD is a whole different story all together, not to say that they couldn't bring it back (Disney brought back the subs - and boy was THAT place a mess).

I'm sure the laws and regulations were still the same for the Monsters due to the rides being opened so close together.

They would have to seriously redevelop the current ride system to make okay by today's standards. Same problem with them bringing back People Mover in it's original form.
It probably would have somethings similar, like layout. But the proximity of sets & the cars would definitely have to be redone.

The real reason they grouped the cars together wasnt because of the sex and stuff on the ride. it was the ongoing issues of people getting off the ride with a moving conveyor belt especially old people. people were still exiting the cars while others were getting on and you have one slow group you would have to hurry to get on.

There isnt a really long entrance and exit area and it was always a problem that finally got solved by just clumping cars into three sections and so loading people u wouldnt need to have the conveyor belt moving. that is what basically killed the ride like a year later. there was no adjsutable speed...just on and off and trust me u didnt want to be on it when it stopped lol.

either they would have to make it like little mermaid with adjustable speed or make it like a disney dark ride that stops at a dispatch load area and sent away like fantasyland dark rides

and actually the reason there was someone on the ride when it was grouped was because of the issue of someone having sex lol there were always at least three people inside the ride watching people trying to get out, having sex (and yes there was lots of it in there lol) or trying to grab things

The ride actually looks in better shape that I would have thought. A company that can put something together on an annual basis as intricate as the Haunt should be able to get the props and sets of this ride back and up running. I don't buy Knott's excuses for not getting this ride back up and running. They just don't have the will to do so.

I actually heard recently from somebody there in the know that the building itself is the problem due to asbestos. If they were to rebuild Knott's Beary Tales, they would have to rebuild the entire building. Of course, that's all heresay, so I'll try my best to remain optimistic.

From what I've heard though, the next project at Knott's is going to be a big rollercoaster that winds around Bigfoot Rapids and the hotel right next to it....which is great, because that's what Knott's needs: more rollercoasters...

Ugh, yeah, just what Knott's needs: another themeless roller coaster that intrudes on another ride/theme.

I feel like we've been hearing these rumors for a while, and nothing's come of it yet. So I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Agreed. As I said, I'm going to remain hopelessly optimistic that it's not true.

    *fingers crossed*

It's a very crushing emotional wreck now.

Really upsetting to see it be left in the world of the forgotton. I really hope Matt will do something with this space. I would like to see KBT return but KOTD as well. now it would be fantastic if they brought both rides back at the same time to delight the fans supporting either ride and would be great for both sides to win. Well it will be a while til' then, i think KBT might have a chance to return esspecially with Matt in Charge. KOTD i see as an maze or something revived in the park now.

Also Parker, could i use your photos for a short video?

I was at Knott's in July for the first time since 1999 and you do feel a sore spot when you see the building sitting there unused, especially when at some point you know you've been up there and experienced KBT or KOTD. The area feels less alive.
