    KOD is dead.

There have been long standing rumors that Kingdom of the Dinosaurs is sitting just waiting for someone to "flip the switch" and the ride would be running again. Thanks to a few insider photos I can tell you this is not the case. The tagging was former employees that were fired over the incident.

It really is a shame to see a ride that was around that long just be abandoned and left to rot.

Really sad photos, but thank you for sharing this look inside all the same. The park really does need another dark ride in this space.

These pics make me sad. I hope Knotts does something with the building soon!

As sad as it is to see those photos, it shows that the ride system and animatronics are still in tact. A new dark ride using the track, perhaps with a new theme, could well be constructed (and should be).

    Re: KOD is dead.

Is it weird that I am Happy after seeing these photos?

Ok, yes, the place looks terrible and seeing this cavernous show building and the scenes all languishing in disrepair is sad. But look at what IS there! The whole ride system, skeletons of animatronics, framing for sets.

Why can't they work something out here?

Wow. I wasn't lucky enough to experience this attraction, but it looks like something I would have enjoyed. Nevertheless, it's both interesting and shameful that it looks to have been just left to sit and decay with the passage of time. You would think they might have stripped down the sets and put the animatronics in storage. If not, what would have been the benefit to just shutting the ride down and leaving it in this state?

I literally teared up looking at this. I loved this ride as a kid so much. They said that the ceiling was caving in because the ride was too heavy. So sad.

I'm tearing up a little now. It makes me really mad to see this building like this. I really do hope with the new president that there is something in the works for this building.

KOD was a neat ride 20 years ago, but it wasn't exactly Star Tours. I'm not sad it's gone. I'm just sorry it's taking Knott's so long to come up with a replacement.

These pictures made me so happy even though they are so creepy it's still weird that they just left everything in there but thank you so much for posting those pictures it was my favorite ride as a kid!

Someone once mentioned that the space would be great for a Peanuts / Charlie Brown themed attraction. I really like this idea.

They should really do a Peanuts themed attraction at Knotts that would be perfect
