I'm glad they are putting more stuff backstage. Guess all that warehouse moving they did the past few years is paying off!!!

It is rumored that the vacant store next to the magic shop, will be used to enter Pinocchio Unstrung. From that vacant store you will then be lead into the Wilderness Dance Hall for the maze.
^ So where did this rumor come from?
Saw it posted by one of the KSF updaters. I'm only putting it as a rumor until we get some sort of official word on it.Originally Posted by dth316:1056790609

Knott's Facebook just announced that guests will have the chance to wear a mask at haunt this year. Here's their post:
The Haunt Door swung open briefly just now....
There was only time for a tiny slice of Haunt Goodness to slip out...
At Haunt 2012 - Every guest will have the opportunity to wear a Halloween Mask....the choice will be up to you.
Another way we're bringing Halloween back to Haunt.
What does it mean?
All will be revealed soon....
And then the door slammed shut.
I dont think they understand the horrible things that are going to happen. As people have stated on Facebook they now have given people the option of being anonymous, and when people are anonymous bad things happen. Just look at how some people treat other people on the internet.

I think that the empty store rumor might be true. The shape of the arch can easily overlap the vacant store.
I'd have to assume, from the wording, that this is not saying folks can bring their own masks and wear them in. The quote is "Every guest will have the opportunity to wear a Halloween Mask....the choice will be up to you."
Seems to me that more likely references something like the 3D glasses, a hand out for the Trick or Treat maze. They can't be that naive about security/guests getting confused for actors I'd hope.
The real wording to look at is "What does it all mean?" Point is, Haunt is trying to be like Murdy and his HHN tweets by being cryptic and to boil up speculation and anticipation by releasing info slowly. Except Haunt is less subtle about it, literally sometimes saying "SPECULATE!!" and the info often sucks.
So Haunt really isn't letting guests bring in masks to the event. That would be the worst idea in the history of a Haunt. You know how many idiots would just sit around all night trying to scare other people? It'd be the most annoying thing ever and it would be by the masses. That sounds like something I'd avoid without question. Knotts made a bad call by releasing that status update -- I can see even more idiots now coming to the front gate with masks saying facebook said it was okay.
As for what the cryptic message actually means, I don't care. I'm not falling for Knotts' game!
It probably means there will be Haunt Pin's or something.![]()

Dude, seriously. We get it, there are no ideas out there for haunt that'll make your panties twist into a bunch. That's a great story, but its getting old. How about we all just celebrate that Halloween is around the corner. My favorite holiday : )Originally Posted by dth316:1056791677
I think its funny how 1 man behind a keyboard with a knott's scary farm facebook account cant get people so twisted and fired up.... 1 line, 4 mazes.... People will have no excuse not to finsh all the mazes this yr.![]()
That is where you're incorrect. If you actually READ through my posts on Haunt, you'll see I have lots of admiration for the event. My cynicism is only from the point of view of "c'mon, I know you can do better than this." Knotts is acting like they're not threatened and is if there's no competitors -- which are BOTH not true. I want Knotts to dominate like they THINK they're doing and be the big boy on the block again. They originated the Haunt game, there's no excuse for why they can't have 5 times better the quality then they've had over the last 5 or 6 years. My wishes for this has even heightened since this is their 40th annual. The fact that it seems like they're just phoning it in instead of going all out just saddens me.
I'm not the bully on the block trying to push them down every chance I get.
I'm the disappointed girlfriend who's whining for them to finally clean the dishes.
The difference is -- love. That bully has no love for Haunt. But that girlfriend knows Haunt used to be something else but over the years, has decided to drag its feet. I want Haunt to be what it was when I fell in love with it, not just get lazy. The fact of the matter is, I'm SCARED that Haunt will be no more some day if they continue in this direction. That is the LAST thing I want to happen. Many are naive and think this'll last forever but trust me, most businesses, no matter how successful, eventually have a dying point. With HHN, Sinister Pointe and even Fright Dome getting bigger each year, all of Knotts customers will eventually slip away. So I'm going to continue to rant about it on threads and send them messages on facebook and I'm going to continue to give them honest reviews along with others who see the same problems I do. There needs to be a difference and that difference needs to come SOON or we might not be talking about this same event a decade or 2 from now.
There NEEDS to be people who say, "the quality of the set design is looking kinda cheap these days compared to the competitors."
There NEEDS to be people who say, "hey, about 30% of your monsters are scaring inefficiently."
There NEEDS to be people who say, "bring back these mazes over and over again and people will tire of them when competitors bring in mostly new content every year."
They don't make the changes necessary and every year, it looks like the park is less and less crowded. I don't blame the economy, I blame the product. The Halloween event industry is still thriving -- but at Knotts, if you were new to the game, you'd say it was dying.

I agree that its good that the majority of the bigger mazes are backstage. I don't like seeing the maze in plain sight while walking through the park. Surprises are better.
I would put my mazes big spaces like sound stages. I wouldn't put my facades outside though, I would keep them inside to make it more realistic.
