I wish they'd bring back the haunted shack and the Bear-y tales ride.

Same here! Sadly, if the Haunted Shack were to ever come back it would need to be compliant with current ADA and OSHA regulations and it just wouldn't be the same. It's a shame that it couldn't have been saved in one way or another. I guess with low attendance numbers, as well as maintenance upkeep they just didn't think it was worth it. Just one more unique attraction that has gone away from Knott's..

As for the Bear-y Tales attraction I really do wish something could go in that area. I am not sure if KotD or BT is the right answer, but they could definitely use a dark ride and utilize that space somehow. It would be nice to see them do that.

^It wasn't totally unique. You can still ride comparable attractions to the Haunted Shack at both Calico Ghost Town in Barstow, and the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz.

As opposed to the larger theme parks in the area (Disneyland, Six Flags, etc) it had a completely different vibe.

The bear-y tales was cool, 1) because it was a dark ride, 2) because it kind of showed what Knott's was famous for (making jam), and 3) because it had elements of Splash mountain (or Sing America if you will) and the Bear Country Jamboree with the cute animatronic animals.

^Just because its tall doesn't mean its a major ride. Sky Tower at SFMM is 370ft, is that a major ride?

I doubt anyone would go out of their way just to ride Windseeker.


The fact is, the park will now have gone 10 years without a major new ride.

I've stopped at Knott's on my way to work before solely to go on Windseeker. Admittedly I find the ride far more relaxing than I do thrilling, but I digress.

Anyways, I'm glad to see some greenery added to the area, and I guess if nothing else I'll dig the mouse, but I can't do the scramblers, get major motion sickness on them.

Knotts needs a dark ride to replace kingdom of the dinosaurs and a return of soap box racers which was one of the funniest rides ever and I'll come back to knotts

If they could come up with a version that is ADA compliant and had a satisfactory RPH they would build another Haunted Shack. As far as a dark ride, we can hope that with a former Disney exec at the helm of Cedar Fair now that it may be in the cards for the future.

I was wondering. All they need is Greased Lightning and we're back to where the park was twenty years ago there...

I do miss Whirlpool. Yeah, basic scrambler and all. But basic scrambler in a building with an Art of Noise soundtrack!

I do miss the Whirlpool with its dark, oceanic murals and the fantastic music track. It had a lot of bang for the buck in my opinion.

Doesn't anybody remember the dolphin pavilion that used to be over there too? Before dolphins, its stage was a bandstand with outdoor dancing.
