Windseeker will not be reopening, Calico Mine Ride next to be refurbished

Nah, they'll write it off as a loss and sue the ride makers to recoup. The ridemaker will settle by providing an alternate attraction that works for a reduced rate. Add the write off to that and it's a breakeven. Easy peasy.

If it goes then I'm glad that we didn't lose Sky Cabin for it.

And Supreme Scream is still there for anyone who wants a high ride and Wave Swinger is still there for anyone who wants to ride a swing ride.

I have also been on the Condor at Hershey Park. maybe it was just me, but the one at Magic Mountain seemed taller.

^It was just you. :) I do seriously believe they are all the same height. However, SFMM did put theirs on the top of a small hill (notice how you climb up to get to X2 and Viper), giving the illusion it was taller.

There's a Condor at Six Flags Great America too. I think that and Hershey's are the only two in the country. These don't list any more either:

^ That's right, there is one there. I'm not sure if that's the one from SFMM, I'm not sure where it went after it left SFMM. The one at Great Adventure opened the year it closed at Magic Mountain and the one at Great America was the one from Great Adventure.

I'm guessing it's the same.

SFMM's seems to have been a different one. SFMM's closed in '89 (was only there '88-'89). SFGAd's opened in '88 (and then moved to SFGAm and opened in '91).

Just FYI... other websites have witnessed people working on Windseeker. So something's happening. As for when... who knows. But it's not just sitting there abandoned.

Thanks for sharing this. I rarely follow other forums so if that is out there, I probably would have never seen it. I like Windseeker. I'd be disappointed to see it gone (though I can't say that I wouldn't understand why). Glad there is still some hope left.

If it proves to be true, it really is a shame that Windseeker will no longer be operating. It was really fun the one time I got to ride it.

Just drove by it this morning. The swings were at half mast and there was crew working on it. In fact, the past few times I've driven by Knotts, I've seen Windseeker moving. I'm pretty sure it's coming back..

on saturaday i went to knotts at 9:00 in the morning and i saw windseeker in full circuit. It will most likely come back.

Good to hear the news. Haven't really driven down the road that way in a few weeks so haven't seen the ride up at all.

Sad to see Windseeker not reopening, but if they cannot find a fix, then, there they better not open it while their is still the threat of being stuck.


Great news about the Calico Mine train. I had never been on it until last yera, and it is great news that it will habve a bit of TLC.

Could they do that with Ghost Rider. it is a painfull ride and I will never ride it agin until it I hear that is is smoother

I was driving home from the airport Monday and Windseeker's seats (Windstopper as I'm now calling it) were sitting at the top, not moving. On Tuesday when I was in the area, It was down a little further, still not moving. They must be doing some extensive testing to figure out how to fix this issue..
