ORDDU: Hello to all you MiceAge ducklings out there!! Today my sisters and I have a question about a certain slang word and it's origins.
ORWEN: But before we say anything more--we do want to make sure nobody is offended by what we're about to bring up.
ORGOCH: 'Cause if'n ya IS offended, I'll tell ya's all right here 'n now it weren't MY idea ta even bring it up in the FIRST place!! I'd rather be out ketchin' FROGS instead a wastin' time askin' dumb questions that don't matter what the answers is, ta begin with!!!
ORWEN: Then will you kindly leave and let the rest of us have some peace?
ORDDU: The question we'd like an answer to is--where did the term 'fag' originate? We've got some ideas, of course. But we'd like to know what the rest of you have heard.
ORWEN: In Austrailia a fag is something you smoke--like a cigarette.
ORDDU: In ancient days, I believe fags were piles of sticks that you used to burn--of all things--witches at the stake!! (But surely we don't want to go there, do we?)
ORWEN: We've also, of course, heard the word 'fag' used as an offensive means to insult certain individuals in modern times--and THAT is not something we would ever encourage, believe me.
ORDDU: Still, the actual word, itself, has several different meanings.
ORWEN: I suppose--if we had libraries in the Land of Prydain--we could just go to one and borrow a dictionary to look up the defintion. But, you know how it is when you come from a place, like Morva, and printing presses haven't been invented, yet...
