A Zack Snyder Star Wars film taking place outside of the new trilogy?

Take it for what it's worth, but Vulture is spreading this rumor around the web.

Zack Snyder Preps Non-Trilogy Star Wars Film -- Vulture
"You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer."

Not sure how I feel about this. 300 was so great, Sucker Punch was so bad.

Funny thing...Sucker Punch turned out to be one of my fav movies and I really don't know why. I liked the music and the concept. Maybe it was the way that SUPER black eyeliner makeup looked flawless even when they cried...not sure. But I watched it numerous times over again.

I thought he did ok with Watchmen. We'll see how well he does with a truly iconic property this summer when Superman comes out. If that film does well, it may boost my faith in him for this.

However, the idea of film parallel to the new trilogy I'm not too sure about. Disney may be oversaturating the market with this.

So its supposed to be based off the Akira Kurosawa film "The Seven Samurai." Which is cool, and I'm honestly okay with it since its A: such a good story, B: not dealing with characters from the other films, and C: clearly not Zack Snyder's original material. He's got great visuals, but he has no idea how to tell a story of his own (Sucker Punch). When he's dealing with other people's stories though (Watchmen, 300), he's great!

I LOVED the concept but the execution wasn't great IMO.

Agreed concept and story...love, but the execution of it was off a bit.

Just as a point of update:

Zach Snyder's reps have told a number of organizations that the report is untrue. Snyder himself has yet to say anything on the subject, so take that for what its worth, but it seems Vulture was simply trying to boost site views.

Here's a link to the article from the Hollywood Reporter that disproves the rumor.

If Zack can do well with Man of Steel, and makes Superman a prominent film franchise again, then I'll will allow him to do a Star Wars film. The concept sounds great. I've never seen The Seven Samurai, but Im sure if Zack isn't writing the film it could have potential.

Ah, but you HAVE seen Seven Samurai! Or at least, I assume you have. Something like it at least... The Magnificent Seven and A Bugs Life are both based off of Seven Samurai. Watch either of those and you'll get most of the major plot points! However, if you get a chance, the original material is absolutely brilliant. Akira Kurosawa does a magnificent job.
