How do I join in on the fun? - Page 2

Thanks to everyone who has relplied so far! Your words have definately helped me get a boost of encouragement to get out to a meet! The only thing is.....I think my first meet may have to be the big anniversary meet!

At least it gives me a chance to try and connect with some Micechatters on a few threads until then though.

Oh P.S Sir clinksalot.......I think there could be room for a couple Belle's! Don't you? The thought of having to throw down at my first meet just puts a damper on the whole thing!

j/k! I am tryin' to get my husband convinced to join me. He is the Beast to my Belle and I would love to meet other Disney couples too! Do you guys have a mix of couples and "single riders"?

And lastly....What happens at regular meet? Do you all just show up at a certain time and meet somewhere? Is it just a social event or do you do lunch or go on rides?

I personally like bigger meets than smaller ones. Not because I'm particularly extroverted though. Quite the opposite. I notice that in large groups it's actually a little easier to not be noticed than in small groups where every little thing you do is amplified for everyone to see. And I'm saying this in general and not just in regards to Micechat meets.

I can agree with that!

You don't have as many awkward moments in large groups as you would with a small group. Especially if your the only "newbie".

If your first meet will be the anniversary, that will be great too!! There will be a lot of MiceChatters there even before the main event, (I'll most likely be there Friday afternoon-Monday), so maybe you could meet up with a few people before to ease you into the insanity!

The anniversary meets are set up a little different than the regular every Sunday ones. (See Pratts post # 12) We haven't worked out all the details of the weekend yet, but there are several opportunities to get together throughout the weekend. You can go to all the events, or pick and choose which ones you want. This is a sample of what we did last year!

Noon Meet - Mickey Fountain in front of Monster's Inc. in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. We'll greet each other and chat for half an hour.

12:30 - Lunch at the Pacific Wharf - Grab your food from anywhere and join us back at the Pacific Wharf for lunch.

2 pm - Patio of the Golden Vine Winery - Eye Spy - We'll give you a sheet of photos of elements at Disney's California Adventure - You have one hour to find as many as you can and return. The top three scores returned within 60 minutes will win Disney gift cards. This event is free, join the fun!

3pm - Blue Sky Cellar - Let's see what's new and what's on the way to DCA

4pm - MiceChat goes Hollywood - Meet in the interior lobby of the Animation Building in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. We'll assemble watch the loop one time through and then head to Monster's Inc and Muppets. If we have time and the line isn't too long, we'll ride Tower of terror as well.

6:30 - Meet in front of Tough to be a Bug - We'll watch the movie and get attacked by Black Widow Spiders! Then we'll head off into the night to ride whatever we feel like.

Special Event 6:30 - MiceChat Wine Reception (Special Ticket Event)at the Golden Vine Winery lower patio - 6:30 pm until closing. Enjoy Wine, cheese, fruit, vegetables and the company of your fellow MiceChatters in a private reception at DCA. Magic under the stars. Limited to 40 people - Ticket required - $38 per person - 21 and older please - Click Here to purchase.

9pm until ??? - Lost Bar - A MiceChat tradition - but let's not get ourselves thrown out - Please

Then Sunday usually starts with breakfast at the Riverbelle Terrace, and continues with several various meet ups throughout the day! Again, go to all of them, go to a few!! What ever you are comfortable doing!!

Oh you won't be the only newbie! We always have plenty of people joining us for the first time! And it doesn't matter if its a massive meet like the anniversary, or a small one with only 6 or 7 people... all it takes is getting started and you'll find you will fit right in and fell like you've known everyone forever!

MiceChat meets are almost always VERY informal. Just show up, hang around for a bit. Go to lunch with us if you'd like. Ride an attraction or two. And in no time at all, you'll be making new friends.

For some folks, all it takes is one meet and they feel like an old friend. For shy folks, you might need to visit us a few times to start recognizing faces and being recognized in return. Regardless of your pace in meeting new people, you'll be glad you spent some time with us at the Happiest Place On Earth.

Any excuse to visit Disneyland is a good one

I hope you have a great time! You're SO lucky getting to go to a meet! I hope to make it to one, one day. All the people on MC are really sweet....even if they have a twisted sense of humor.

I've been to one meet (last year) and although i only was able to hang out for a little bit, i was made to feel real comfy. Both Dusty and Fishbulb made me feel welcome and Radiobarry and RexDopey as well as everyone else were not shy about starting and engaging in conversations.

I am a little hurt that NO ONE REMEMBERS ME!!!! I'M CALLIN A WAAAAAAMMMBULANCE!!!!

If i lived in CA i would go a lot more, but alas i don't. The best advice i can give you is go through trip reports here on Mice Chat, that will help you put names to the faces and will get you familiar with how they roll! Just have fun and remember what Doris Day sang:

Disney Belle, the anniversary meet was my first one as well. If no one else does it, I'm definitely willing to go around and introduce you to everyone I know and also those that I don't. And then if there's anyone(s) in particular that you're trying to meet up, we can look for them. Someone did that for me last year and it made a huge difference.

It has been a while since the little drmrs and I have been to a meet, but we are going to try tomorrow. Its a little hard to plan for sure since I'll have the five of them by myself tomorrow morning.
