Thanks, but already being discussed over here since 11-29-08:
For these prices there is no way dinner would be inside the HM. The only dinner events inside the HM started at $2,000/person almost ten years ago and the price only went up from there (these events ended in 2004 at both DLR and WDW).
Dinner for this event will be at a yet-to-be-announced location somewhere in DCA. Hence the "Admission to DCA after 6P" (for what other reason would guests need admittance to DCA at dinner time?? ;) ).
For those of you who have gone to past events and pre-registered is there a cancellation clause?
January 20th until 9/09/09 is a long ways away and anything can happen.
Package Itineraries and the Merchandise for the event has been posted on the events site.!

Fantastic merchandise!!! Bookends, candelabra... even sneakers!? It all looks so awesome! OmG, the chess set looks to be incredible!!
No surprises with the itinerary/schedule of events. As I was guessing... the seminar will be in the GCH (Sequoia Ballroom). And of course we knew dinner would be in DCA. The venue still hasn't been announced... I'm guessing Hollywood & Dine or Stage 17.
I guess the days of cool leather jackets at merchandise events are over...
Wow, I just realized this event takes place mid-week after Labor Day weekend! How effed-up is that? I can't believe that they would hold a major merchandise event mid-week... let alone mid-week after a major holiday. There's absolutely no way I can close our 2 businesses after a major holiday.
I am still trying to understand why this...
"Please note: We are now required to have only one (1) Guest per reservation. It will be necessary for each Guest to register individually. Thank you!"
That is what is holding us back.
It does kind of suck for those who can't get away on a weeknight, especially because traveling long distances requires more than a day. DLR merchandise events... along with most of the marketing to the public at DLR seems to be aimed at the locals.
Too bad you won't be there! :(
(and yes, I would love a cool jacket from the event too!)
The two merchandise events that I can recall attending were the TOT event which was on a Thursday evening, and the "50 Years of Magical Memories" event which started on Friday, July 15th.
In both cases it was an easy task to leave town on a Thursday afternoon. I guess because it seems more acceptable to take time off before a weekend (especially a holiday weekend), than after a weekend when everybody's expected to be back at work.
Too bad for me... I'm gonna miss out hangin' with some MiceChatters that I like. Maybe I can get someone to buy that cane for me off their RSP...
Yeah, Charlie, the Wednesday, (and effectively Thursday, since the event goes until midnight) schedule really is not good. At least with a Thurday event, it's easier to make it a long four day weekend. And now that you mention it, immediately after Labor Day weekend, means most people would need to schedule the entire week off, for an event that is really only one day.
It worked much better to have the HM event on Thursdays.
The special merchandise event for DCA's opening was a Friday afternoon and night. Made it much easier to schedule for.
Oh, they probably want to get the event over with after Labor Day, so that they can start decorating for the HMH.
Charlie, here's another idea on why they chose "9-9-9", turn it upside down . . .
I think they chose 9-9-09 is because that's how many ghosts reside in the Mansion. And they may have scheduled it on a weekday precisely because it would limit the attendance.
