I will be there for sure. I love the last DIsney Treasures DVD with the copy of the Ticket book and SLeeping Beauty Castle card in it. It goes along well with the one I got years ago. I am excited to get this one too.

Re: Imagineering the Magic DVD release and signing

It isn't discrimination, it's common sense if you want the event to be accessible to everyone. AP holders below premium level can buy a blockout day ticket. It's on a Saturday, which is the day of the week most people would be able to go, being the weekend and all. If it was held on a Wednesday, would everyone who has to work yell discrimination?

I can't believe an event actually corresponding with our plans to go anyway. I'm kind of excited about this. I think for once I will be able to leave the house on time to ensure I get to dl on time.

Re: Imagineering the Magic DVD release and signing

I just ordered mine a few minutes ago on line. No problem so I guess they are still in stock. I am looking forward to seeing this one. Too bad I had to miss going and seeing Tony again, but I just can't swing it this time.

Re: Imagineering the Magic DVD release and signing

The process today was easy, but kinda odd. For instance, they don't stamp your receipt when you get your dvd signed. AND... the autographs are on a separate piece of paper that they hand you. Who's to stop someone from returning the dvds as unopened merchandise?

And I'm watching it now... erggh....

Re: Imagineering the Magic DVD release and signing

I'm watching the DVD right now. So far I haven't seen much in the way of new content and it's fairly poorly produced. It's in 16x9 aspect, and the imagineers are all correctly seen, but the footage is stretched making Walt look short and fat!!!

The disc 2 sounds like a filler disc. It didn't sound to interesting to me, but the imagineers were all very nice and everything went smoothly.

I haven't watched it yet. i just got home.

Guests lining up today were told that they were able to buy Imagineering books to be signed as well.. though still limit to two signings per person.

I think I should have stuck with my original instinct and done that instead of the dvds.

The DVDs do not show that much more footage than you've already seen and offer nothing really new if you're a big imagineering / disneyland fan like I am. If you bought the treasures tins, you'll find more information from actual sources than on this 90 minute disc... and it will be far more entertaining.

There's very little music from the parks on this dvd, most of it is synthesizer and it sounds horrible. Even footage of Star Tours do not have the proper sound effects to go with it!

What's even more depressing is when they talk about how great it is to redo Pirates as if Johnny Depp actually belongs in the ride. What's more depressing than that is how they remember fond memories of the old submarine voyage ride and then talk about how great it is to force Finding Nemo into it. Don't even get me started on the DCA chapters (which only lasts 8 minutes)

In short, this is NOT for Disney geeks. This is made for 5 year olds who are just starting to get interested in Disneyland. All of the information on these discs have been told before and you already have them in your dvd collection.

Meeting the imagineers was great. Watching this DVD was not.

edit: another way of summing it up is this: there's 2 discs. 1 disc is 60 minutes. The 2nd disc is 30 minutes. This could have all been fit into one single DVD with maybe a $19.99 price tag instead of $25.

Exactly my thoughts. I was hoping for more meaty, technical, and behind the scenes stuff. It was nothing but talking heads against blue screen video in the wrong aspect ratio. Why couldn't they have been standing in the ride they were talking about?
