I'm going to pull out my hairs on this contest, I just know it.

If the fiction is great, I'll want to publish it. But if the great fiction in question looks like something Disney would want to clamp down on (like, say, a serial killer inside DL and the story doesn't make Disney look good), then I'll worry about it legally and may not show the world. Dilemmas, dilemmas. You all can do your part by writing amazing fanfic that Disney won't see as counterproductive to its image

But remember, you can also have a really short story (1,000 words) or vastly exceed 7,500. But the ideal range is somewhere in the middle as noted.

    Dear Mr. Yee,

Thanks for the response. I'll get to work on it as bset as I can. I understand about the 'in the wrong light' issue with a serial killer et al. I was just making a point.

The irony is, I wrote all sorts of genres and the only ones that ever get picked up are for horror and mystery magazines. I don't particularly enjoy writing those kinds of stories--but that's where the audiences are. Go figure.

    Thanks again.

    peace!

Interesting idea for a contest and I'm very tempted to enter, although this will be much harder, I think, than a piece of normal fanfiction as it will require all original characters.

My friend and I used to joke about what it would be like if Walt Disney was taken out of cryostasis and taken to Disneyland:

Walt:"This'll be swell! I can't wait to ride the Peoplemover again!"

    Lassiter:"Ummm.....Walt..."

Sounds like fun, I'm not real good at this (dialogue yes description and action no) but I'll try my best.

I already know what I want to write. I can't wait to submit this!

Haven't written fanfic in a long time, but I am a writer...shouldn't be too hard to get back in the swing of things.

    Um...

this may seem like a stupid question(s) but.

How do you want this formatted with last name, page and date in the corners? And how do you want the title?

Re: 7/22: Once Upon a Time

A writing contest...about Disneyland?! Oh man...I am so ever in. It just stinks because already in this thread I've seen about five ideas I instantly was thinking about.

And I echo the above MiceChatter's question: short plays? Can we Kevin, oh, please?...

I'm in. Working on a Action/War Story. Disneyland will be mentioned in the story and a battle could take place in the park. But I might revise it later. Plot is in someways similar to Call of Duty 4.

Re: 7/22: Once Upon a Time

You can send in short plays, I suppose, but I'm not positive that will have the same readability unless we were to get enough of them and put the plays side by side. My gut instinct says short prose will win, not a play, but as always the proof is in the pudding.

The question about format is not dumb; I should have explained that early on. A cover page with name is requested, so the rest can be name-free. You can put the title on that cover page too, or as a "header" in the document. Page numbers can be anywhere on the page.

Re: 7/22: Once Upon a Time

I am way too excited about this. My question is about language - now, are we aiming for these stories to be in the G and PG rating? I'm not planning on using the f-bomb or anything crass like that, but I am curious as to... Well, are things like "Stop being a jerk!" or "You're so friggin' stupid!" work? Or are we keeping it safe for all? I'm really not as sailor-mouthed as I'm sure this post makes it seem.
"'dognapping.' can you imagine such a thing? 'fifteen puppies stolen.' they are darling little things. anita and her... her bashful beethoven! PIPE AND ALL! oh, roger, you are a FOOL!"

I'm really excited to see so much enthusiasm here. I can't write worth crap, but I love to read, and I can't wait to see the stories that get written. Yay!

Re: 7/22: Once Upon a Time

I am really excited for this, to read and submit! I haven't written anything of merit in about 5 months now (so much for finsihing my novel before I'm 20) and I'm really playing around with plot ideas. My only problem is the draft I started last night would most likely end up as far more than 15 pages!
This is a really fun idea. Depending on how this end up going, could this be an annual thing, maybe?
