I spent a few days at Cinestory's writer retreat in Idyllwild late in June. I got to work with Barri Miles, a Hollywood development exec, on my script, "The Ugly Dorkling", and happened to mention another story, on Disneyland, that I was brainstorming. She hated the idea, saying Disney would sue me, et. al. I'm convinced this fear of Disney makes it fertile ground. I won't participate in your contest, but I do like the idea. I will share the most important thing in any story, theme. What is the writer trying to say? Whatever it is, type it in big, bold letters, and tape it to your computer. This may help you. Good luck with your endeavors.

Disney probably will sue (well, maybe send "cease and desist") if the story or stories published are inappropriate for the Disney audience, or paints Disney in any brush that is unflattering. Since I know this, I plan to only publish stories that won't annoy Disney (which may well mean that Disneyland as a setting is a real backgrounded element of the fiction, not the star).
