Re: 7/25: Belly Up to the Bar

Thanks a ton to all for the kind words. There are great quality kits out there to be found for those desiring 'old west' models. I have used some for the 'base' of many models I have produced--including the 'Panhandle'. My newest model (the 'Big Thunder Epitaph') is a scratch-built using manufactured parts only as accent. Next project to tackle is the Assay Office (the building next to the Big Thunder Saloon) --using plastered walls--ought to be a challenge!

Wow, I had no idea that you had a secret hobby, aside from the debate lounge and writing Letters to the Editor. Super cool work!

Start to finish how many hours does a building take to complete? Fantastic work. Giving Olszewski a run for his money for sure.

I really enjoy it, so I don't keep track. I estimate the Panhandle (a much smaller [by half] model that Steve's Big Thunder Saloon) took about 8 hours total to construct, weather, and detail.

Excellent article and even better woodworking. Impressive on both counts, well done Steve & Paul!

And here I thought his only talent was making smart-a** comments on Micechat ...

One issue, however. There doesn't look to be much room for dancing in that saloon what with it being advertised on the front.

There's more room in mine than the original 'full-size' one on BTMRR. Look inside, sometime!!

Re: 7/25: Belly Up to the Bar

Very cool. I wish I had the room to do something like that.

I have some old model trains that were my Grandfathers, I've tried to get info on them (as far as the scale, etc) but have been unable to.

Maybe one of you could help me out.

The only thing is says is GS-4 Northern 4-8-4 Locomotive and Tender.

It has the Loco, Tender, and (I think) 3 or 4 cars.

I can take pictures and PM them to you if that's easier.

Wow great work there. I'm working on my HO layout with more Disney references than you can shake a stick at.
