    Re: 8/12: A Mighty Wind

    Thanks for the review Kevin..

    But come on..

"The hosts are working off a memorized script, so they are told to ask things a certain way, and it struck me that the questions were a bit leading, as if the audience was being guided to choose certain things."

Of course they are. This is not random.. the idea is to educate and illustrate that different choices (many that most would not think of) can make your house better suited to survive storms, etc

The idea is not to get variation... its to educate. And that's why you have some 'trick questions' to highlight what people may think, is not always right

This actually sounds very interesting. I don't mind taking an hour break from craziness to learn something. This has a lot of neat ideas. Much more than many of the other displays at Innoventions. Glad to see something going in that will make me WANT to go there on my next visit!

The time investment I can see as an issue to raise. But the same can be said of the plastic robot thing though.. and the segway experience as well. All of those take about 45min plus if I recall.

Thanks Kevin, this sounds like a good attraction. I'm usually done with Innoventions after less than an hour, so it's a good thing they're apparently adding something with real substance.

I always use "trick" questions when developing learning activities, as the answer ends up being a nice "a-ha!" moment, but you don't want to be heavy-handed with the leading questions, as it sounds like they might be doing here. That just leads to eye-rolling.

As far as Kim Possible, I know when I participated in the Dinner with an Imagineer program at the Brown Derby last August, the Imagineer did confirm Kim Possible was coming back to EPCOT in an expanded form as the early tests.

Yes, infact, many set-pieces are already up around EPCOT.

The thing that threw me off with the tree thing was that when you were making your selection, it showed a picture of the leaves from the magnolia and the needles from the pine. So I assumed my choices were to be based on THAT, as all the other choices had visuals attached to the decision.

But the computer and graphics in the "second" storm do in fact adjust based on audience polling, so it seems like the idea IS to get variation (?)

Yes.. to show the error of your ways. But you were downing it for leading on some and tricking on others. Simple methods to keep things engaging. To get some people thinking 'wow, I didn't know that'.

Nice article, and the exhibit sounds fairly interesting. Concerning the exhibit's appeal, I feel that it is relevant to most people from the way it is described in the article, however that most people will still ignore it because it's an edutainment offering, so to speak.

Yes, I was. Because I think it would be equally engaging to let the audience "make its own mistakes," so to speak.

Yes, but this was long before they started adding the new ones.

Right, there are permits describing the WS Interactive package dating back to Jan. - Feb. '08.

I don't think that edutainment is the issue. I love being edutained. For me its the disaster element. I really don't want to think about my house being destroyed while I'm on vacation thousands of miles away.
