"Politics is the profession whereby the inevitable is made to seem a great human achievement" - Quentin Crisp
Very nice and clever story. I wasn't entirely clear about he entire journey, tho. Bismark winds up in a Matterhorn car? What is the Cloudlike thing he lands on before winding up in Storybookland? I'd love a little descriptive map. This would make a cute little animated film!
The cloudlike thing was the Skyway, so obviously the story is not present day.
What a brilliant perspective on Disneyland! Very cleverly done and well written. I especially like the state capitol names. As for it being fanfic, I think it loosely fits that description.
I can now rest in peace, I have discovered the Holy Grail of Disneyland!"Did you just step off the train? I'm the reason for all this."
"All what?"
"This whole place! All of it! The gates, the buildings. All the people!"
Ohhh, bunny!
That was the sweetest little story ever! I wish someone would draw pictures of this little guy. When he remembered being caught in a downpour, my brain cut to Bismark sitting in the grass, followed by thunder. Then a tremendous storm and his eyes getting all huge and Precious Moment-like!
And the sneezing-fit was great!
Oo-de-lally!
When can we see the other stories?
Nice little story! A bit confusing at times, as I couldn't figure out where Bismark was. And was the Feral Council in Sleeping Beauty Castle? But it was fun to read. I am curious, too: Are there 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place winners, Kevin?
Yes, the Council was in the Castle.
And I agree - I'd love to see more of the fiction that was sent in!
Sure, I can run some of the other finalists in the coming weeks. You can see them set aside slightly in the article from this week (not placed in any particular order, though)

“The press [should be] a watchdog. Not an attack dog. Not a lapdog. A watchdog. Now, a watchdog can't be right all the time. He doesn't bark only when he sees or smells something that's dangerous. A good watchdog barks at things that are suspicious.” – Dan Rather
Very cool - thanks.
Very sweet little story. To be true to life however, the Feral Council should have been in the Indy Temple. That's where all the cats seem to hang out.
Dream big. Do what you love.
You know, that's actually where I pictured them going while I was reading the story. Actually, between there and the Jungle Cruise. It wasn't until later that I realized they were probably in the castle.
Oo-de-lally!
