    Re: 7/7: A Pirate's Night For Me

IMHO, Disney 'missed the boat'. The first film was so good, so Disney, I paid 12 times to see it in the theatre, got others to go with me to see it, then bought the DVD the first day it was available. This one, I may see it one more time; I don't know. I wish the audience would have SHUT UP during the movie...I missed what was said in the 'last 30 seconds' of the film because there was too much noise.
The first film, Johnny Depp was "Captain Jack Sparrow". This film, Johnny Depp 'played' Captain Jack Sparrow; and too many cheap script references to the first film. I don't think they'll see the $650 million they did the first time, except for the added merchandising sales.
That opening at El Capitan was stellar!

I agree about this movie being borderline in the rating. Scary creatures that are borderline for some kids, not all. I personally liked it. I want to see it again for more of the details.

Ms.Kruse, thanks for the wonderful report. They really made the "decks" of the El Capitan come alive!

Well, they've seen 130 million in 3 days!

I think they'll do just fine...

The first one was definitely funnier...but I loved this one too......and my 9 1/2 year old said he liked it BETTER - because it was scarier. I can't wait until next May....we'll do the old Star Wars thing...watch 1 and 2 and then go see 3!

    Re: 7/7: A Pirate's Night For Me

I think that the biggest problem with the movie is that it was 1.5 hour's worth of material stretched into a 2.5 hour movie. In addition to the two separate extended sequences involving the Kraken destroying a ship, there were two separate extended sequences that involved Orlando Bloom rolling around in a giant round object. It's as if they ran out of ideas after the first half (which doesn't bode well for Pirates 3).

Oh, and I missed what came after the credits. Anyone feel like cluing me in? Please?

    Here ya go!

    Spoiler
They open to wild dancing by the canables, then pan over to the throne that Jack sat in before he was to be killed. The dog is now sitting on it all gussied up and with a big huge bone in his mouth. That's it.
