Very true, I am looking forward to whatever they end up doing to the Island so that it is once again lively - yet it feels like they are just riping the bandage right off. I guess that way it stings a lot less ...

This is such a shock. I was hoping Phase 2 wouldn't make it. Please Build It Again!

Wow. I'm at a loss for words.

Honestly, I was expecting this to happen in Phase 2. Sometime next year.

But so suddenly.. I'm just... Wow.

It's been gone since they shut it down and did absolutely nothing with it.

    Re: 5/16: Fort Wilderness Demolition

OK, let me share what I know...

The current Restroom doors and access on the East side will remain, along with the new Wheelchair lift.

The rest of the Fort, including the "logs" above the restrooms will be removed.

As I understand it, the fort will be rebuilt fairly quickly in the same manner as the "Shipwreck" that was built next to the fort. That is, the frame of the fort built in concrete, but painted to look like logs. This should create a longer lasting fort with less maintenance. If you have seen some of my recent photos of the Shipwreck, it should work out OK.

Heck, I remember going thru the "secret" exit on the North end of the Fort that went to the lower caves, long since closed.

Things happen, and hopefully the rebuilding of the fort will allow for it to reopen for guests during Phase 2 of the "Pirates Lair" refurb, if it gets approved.

The fort must not pass the ADA test.

I was happy to hear that it was going to open to guest.

but Now It may not need to pass ADA test if only disneyland castmember is going to use it.

Now where going to put ADA Restroom?
    In that new bulid shed?

Now we need wait an see, Al update or Disneyland news (right I'm go with AL news.)

I'll miss it very much. I'm genuinely sad about this. I want that Davy Crockett Figure from the headquarters scene.

So what, exactly, is being "rebuilt"? The entire fort structure, but just in cement? Or a smaller fort that will only house the restroom facilities?

Isn't the Fort, at the very least, needed for Fantasmic! CM needs? Will the rebuilt fort be large enough to support the needs of the Fantasmic! crew?

When the fort lost it's guns, the fort lost it's life.

May it's final replacement do it proud!
