Thanks for the great report, Tina.
It sounds like it was a excellent show that did DL's place in history justice.
"I'm gettin' kind of fond of you, kid.Not that I want to pick out curtains or anything."
Sounds like the absolutely perfect evening, picnic dinner, followed by a terrific concert celebrating Disneyland! Wonderful, I am very jealous![]()
Why did I not hear about this until now? Not that I would be able to go, but I'm a fan of DL who reads the official press and casually reads MiceAge/MiceChat, and I never heard of this event until this report.
They sure keep these kinds of things close to their chest, now, don't they?
This event rocked (I was there on Saturday night as well). Great coverage!
I loved how Fess Parker sorta forgot how his own theme song went, it was so cute![]()

Thanks for a wonderful report! Tonight Victoria and I will be there. I can't wait.
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

When you wish upon a star your dreams come true.
That sounded like an awsome concert.
Any chance they will sell DVD's of the concert lator?
I was there Sunday night...![]()

I enjoyed it as well, and loved the video clips and all the charaters on stage.
The concert seemed a bit short to me, and kept hoping for more, but I guess since I know all the music, time flew by.
This is the second year in a row (perhaps third) that the Bowl has had a "Disney" concert in the schedule. They always sell out fast, so watch the schedule and book tickets early next year!

It is too bad that Disney doesn't use the "Walt Disney Amphitheatre" here in Orlando for such things. I wish I could have seen it.![]()
I Was there opening night (July 2) and simply loved itTina Gurney did a wonderful article on recapping the evenings performance
The show at the Hollywood Bowl sounds like it was a happening performance. The Star Spangled Banner followed by Disney themes sounds like it would be quite breathtaking at that setting. How mant evenings do they do the performance? i'd like to see it in a year or two.
I went to the July 4th show, and I recorded it. I'm trying to get it all processed, and once it is I'll put it on the newsgroups so you can all hear it.
The fidelity is low (I recorded it using an Ipaq) but it was done at 16/22/mono which is actually alright. It's very comfortable to listen to.
I'll let y'all know once it's up.
It was absolutely beautiful. Fess Parker was a hoot, especially coming out in his fringed jacket to sing the theme song.
But what stole the show for me was intermission, believe it or not. At the top of the show, the conductor said that Disney had opened the vaults to give them access to music that had never been performed at a live concert before. Well, apparantly they gave them access to a little bit more than that from the vault. Through intermission, they were showing footage from the park that I have never seen before. From construction through present day, it was beautiful and mesmerizing. It felt really special to be seeing it.
Anyway, here are my photos from the evening.
Aw, crap!! Why the heck did I have to go to the bathroom during intermission?!?!?!![]()
