Concerning the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society

I thought this section would be a good place to ask this question.

I've been toying with the notion of joining the CPHS. But is it only for the hardcore train gurus? I know next to nothing about trains but would like to help support the society.

So is this group newbie friendly? Thanks.

Definitely nebiew friendly. As a matter of fact, most of the people involved aren't "hard core" train fans. There are all types in the group--Walt fans, Disneyland history fans, Disney history fans, train fans, etc. Actually, many of the events the club organizes have nothing to do with trains! They have trips to Fess Parker's winery, occasional trips to the Disney Archives or Studio, even a trip to Imagineering. They also operate Walt's Barn in Griffith Park. They try to schedule a few special events a year, and work to produce train items that aren't available elsewhere.

They do have a hard and fast rule that must be followed, though! Any time you visit a Magic Kingdom, you must ride the train!

The newsletter--which is currently available in hard copy as well as electronically, has articles thaat anyone can enjoy--not just train fans. Remember--the group is dedicated to preserving Walt Disney's railroad legacy--remembering Walt's passion for trains. This can be done without having the slightest clue what valve lap-and-lead is, or that the throttle on the engines is a double-poppet type!

So, check them out! It's a nice club that you really may enjoy.
