If there cannot be a berm around DCA they should put a dome over it at least.
That can do several positive things...
Hide DCA from the public.
Cut off views of the outside world (whats California dude? )
Maintain a year round climate controlled setting that would be an attraction in itself.
As I posted in another thread my thoughts are that Cars needs to be in the immersive area of Disneyland and not in the real world of DCA, it would be cheapened there. I say move the Autopia to DCA, build Cars into TL properly.
Regarding Autopia, it already clashes with the "future" theme of Tomorrowland. There's nothing really "future" about it. Now if they made the cars look like the Chervon cars, or Cars cars, with blinky eyes, and made Autopia part of Fantasyland, then there would be a fit.
Autopia is precisely the reason I think a Cars attraction is not a good idea. What happened to variety??? I totally agree with JiminyCricketFan. They can always make a Cars attraction fun, but it is missing something when it bears too much resemblance to everyday life. I live 12 hours, by car, from Disney. With a 24-hour round-trip car ride each visit, I don't get really excited about ... another car ride. If they want to bring "Cars" to Disney, the BORING parking structure seems the best place to start.
Oh, and I don't understand how Cars is supposed to move DCA away from the California theme. Like the aviation theme near Soarin' does? Autos are HUGE in California. If they are going to attempt a makeover, they should start by changing the NAME of the park. I still don't think it's too late to do a "Disney's America" theme in the park.
Cool update, though. This is why I love to read Al's columns. He has MEAT, and he does his homework. I wonder how he does it.
