to me the anticipation for the 50th was like how christmas spirit builds up in most people. We all get excited and prepared for the event, but when the even happens, you start to ask "Ok, what happens now? Where do we go from here?"
Sue - it seems like your enthusiasm and happy spirit catches on wherever it is that you go at Disneyland, and elsewhere. Under the new management, there will be many events to celebrate in the future - I'm sure. Even so, your 50th reports have been splended, cupcake.
What a great story. I really enjoyed your perspective; it really put a unique spin on things. I felt like I was there, although I didn't get a cupcake! Thank you for demonstrating such class, and recognizing the CMs at the BB. I am sure that their hard work pays off when they get to meet a grateful guest like you.
Keep up the good work, I look forward to more great articles.
Shesh Sue- I am crying again- how do you do it? Its a little sneaky and manipulative, but thanks for sharing your experiences. Beautifully written and touching as always. I certainly enjoy the feminine perspective you bring to miceage!

Now that we've been familiar with the repainted castle for almost a year now, it's so weird to look back to 2004 and see just how badly the castle had gotten. When they first painted it last year, I thought I could barely notice a difference. But now that we've have the more vibrant castle for so long, I notice a HUGE difference. It's absolutely shocking to see the faded castle now!
Amazing what a little paint and TLC can do, huh?
And also great report Sue, thank you for the article.

Re: 7/26: Thoughts on the 50th
I'm a little curious on your lines issue. Like you, my friends saw the merchandise line and thought it was totally insane, but unlike you, we didn't have to wait anylonger than a half hour to get on rides throughout the day.
Best interview answer: My biggest weakness is my honesty...I can never remember my lies!
For me, the waiting began in May of 2004, that day the cast members gathered together in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle to form a giant photo mosaic of Mickey Mouse. I was so excited to see that happen, but from my vantage point, I couldn't see a darn thing other than people's armpits as they held up their photos so the Disney photographers could capture Mickey's image.
Loved the report. Everything but the rave about Blue Bayou. Worst restaurant in the world out side of maybe the Denney's in Utah and backroad places in an all white town. It lives up to it's location and time frame. The South in the 1800's. I'm surprised they don't have the "colored people entrance" sign out to direct us folks around back. THAT is the REAL Blue Bayou. A place that Sue will never know because she can't.
